Re: Castro deal is off!!

Post by G.K »

Watched the game on French TV and Castro was interviewed before the match. Seemed quite clear that Castro believes he is leaving Leicester and also quite clear that he thinks that he has not been treated fairly by Tigers in the amount of game time he has been given.
Nowadays referees decide matches, players by how much.

Being reported on twitter that Castro stayed on in France to complete his transfer to Toulon. Appears its now just a matter of time before its officially announced.

Saw Castro leave the stadium afterwards, and with all the circumstances I now think he will sign for them.
Still a Leicester Icon and I do hope IF he goes he goes gracefully and looks back at Leicester with a warm heart.
If he stays then I hope he can find that spirit to fight for the starting place again. its what made Cole the player he is, and think Castro also improved knowing Cole was getting increasingly closer to matching him.

Not sure he will get any more game time at Toulon. Mind you, I know where I would rather live given the choice. :smt052

If he doesn't go at the end of this season will he go at all?
He's 32 now and each year that passes diminishes the size of the salary he could command as well as the length of time he can earn it.

We know he has a restaurant businesses in Leicestershire so we can but hope that influences him to stay.

Saints will probably sign him!

So, Leicester said they wanted the deal done quickly (if a deal is actually to be done), so they didn't miss out on Castro's replacement. So, any guesses (realistic ones) as to who it may be? Brookes was/is rumoured to be off to Barh, so is the urgency due to us needing to counter offer? Or is there someone else on the horizon. Staibano was linked previously, but that has gone quiet. Tigers history demands whoever it is gives the same set piece power we are used to. Has super Pacific Islander agent extraordinaire Freddie got us a Mulipola clone up his sleeve???

A player has been waiting to sign with us until this week. If the deal happens this week he will sign, otherwise the deal is off and we keep Castro.

As said before it cannot be anyone that is "known" because they would not wait around for so long for a deal that may or may not happen. Perhaps wrong to assume it will be a like for like replacement! Its nice of Leigh Halfpenny to wait for us :smt047

Did you see what Dan Cole and Marcos did to the vaunted Toulon front row last Sunday?

Don't forget the bloke in the middle OTY did his bit too.

The business is jointly owned by him and one G Murphy. Could Castro's go/no go decision be a factor in Murphy's plans / decision making .. I hope not.

Does anyone know what the latest is on the Castro situation? It was reported that he'd stayed in the south of France for a day or so to progress the deal but there's been nothing else reported. Has the deal been made? Is it likely he will move or will we have an unsettled and, let us not forget, expensive prop next season?

He seems keen to move on and we will all be sad to see such a great servant of The Tigers leave us. However, if the deal fails, he has made it clear he is not happy so will we get the best out of him next year?

Slightly off topic, but could he sub for the injured Marcos? Can he play both tight and loose-head?

He has played LH before but is now seen as more of a specialist tight head. Logo is the substitute for Marcos.

Incidentally I recall Boris Stankovich saying in an interview a while ago that Logo is one prop "who can genuinely play both loose and tight head".
