Soccer sinks to new low

Post by Old Hob »

I see that soccer continues to be the world's most sordid game as a linesman is beaten to death in Holland by members of a youth team. How I despise soccer.

It's not just a new low, but also a new venue. Such incidents have happened in South Africa and Brazil but Holland normally has good standards of behaviour.

The game is fine. But the scum always seems to gather.

I went to Brussels to see Anderlecht v Forest. Not a fixture that would normally attract bovver.

But we were warned that our Forest contingent would be infiltrated by nutters from Utrecht in Holland who would cross the border into Belgium just to have a punch up with the Anderlecht fans.

Sure enough they turned up and were standing all around me. What are you meant to do?

I am pleased that the other players and officials backed Boateng's stance. It is just a pity that UEFA and FIFA are such weak and ineffective organisations when it comes to racism. The FA are no better.

I agree with your sentiments.

But I would say that whilst the FA may be run by a bunch of old f***s they have massively out performed all other bodies in tackling racism.

I was at Forest when some old guy gobbed what he thought was a funny comment at a black steward. He was immediately surrounded by outraged supporters, arrested, and has not been seen in the ground since.

I'm not saying everything in the garden is rosy, but what happened in Italy would not happen in England.
