Gerry Anderson RIP

Post by BJ. »

From the Beeb

The creator of Fireball XL5, Stingray, Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet has died aged 83. I know he did other programmes (Four Feather Falls, Joe 90, Terrahawks etc) but these four are the ones I fondly remember from my childhood. I believe watching these started my interest in astronomy and science in general.

Thanks for the memories, Gerry.
Whatever you do, don't argue. We might never hear from you again.

and Supercar ?
A bit before my time but l think it looked a bit like a small version of stingray But T birds was best.
Interesting piece http://tinyurl.com/bp5nkhu

At W.R. After 10 mins of the 2nd half (when we are losing) I quite often say "Anything can happen in the next half hour" (which was only said on the original stingray recordings)

:smt026 The theme tunes were brilliant too - worked up the anticipation that something exciting was going to happen - IT WOULD BE GREAT IF SOME WERE PLAYED AT HALFTIME next game

Don't they use the "Stand By For Action" in the warm up music somewhere?

I have to confess that my very first "celebrity crush" was Scott Tracy - yes I knew he was a puppet but the character just appealed to me as a little girl. I also remember lying in the bath trying to make my short hair flow in the water like Marina from Stingray.

Happy memories, Gerry Anderson and his creations were a part of my childhood, and probably were for many of you too.
Don't waste your time away thinking about yesterday's blues
