The Bloke Behind Me

Post by Latecomer »

When we used to sit in the A&L, TBBM was fantastically one-eyed about the Tigers (could spot forward passes even though we sat behind the posts), but at least knew most of the laws and was relatively quiet. Now we've moved to the Cat stand our new TBBM is even more one-eyed, doesn't even appear to have more than a passing acquaintance with the laws and provides a running commentary to anyone within earshot. Anyone have to contend with worse?

The 2BBM turn up occasionally and talk about their jobs, holidays, shooting parties, more holidays...

Why is it that TBBM always thinks he knows the laws, but never does?

Ours certainly doesn't!

The bloke next to me spent the first half telling everybody around him why he didn't want to go to Butlins - because he didn't like Motown oh and he and his mates passed around themselves a big hipflask - and talked about that too - oh and between them they kept going to the WC or the bar . they had spent some some time evidently before the match in the bar too. but they didn't seem to watch or talk about the match.

I was treated to a bit of corporate hospitality in a box at Worcester and one of the other guests who arrived was an attractive young blonde lady.

I prepared myself for an afternoon of daft comments and questions.

Well how wrong can you get? She was an active rugby player who knew the game inside out and never took her eyes off the game.

I ate my humble pie in silence.

Actually, in front of me is the Terrace, from whence I came before decreptitude consigned me to a bench in the Crumbie. In front of me they are wise, and always right. :smt002

I'm impressed with this reply - not the content just the fact you used decrepitude correctly and spelled it correctly - pleasant change from most people I deal with. :smt023

I am neither clever enough to understand nor stupid enough to play this game

As some of you know, I sit (or stand) on the back row of the Crumbie.

There is no-one behind me!

I never disagree with the bloks behind me.

Of course those in front oif me benefit from my advice!

about four years ago, my brother managed to make it to a match and the bloke behind him seemed, from his comments, to know an awful lot about the game. Quite critical of the referee at times as well. Brother turned round to find TBBH was Martin Johnson. True story!

TBBM on the terrace yesterday seemed to know only one word: "ITTIM!"

TBBM was an old fellow who could be quite funny.

However, on one fateful day he responded to a whistle for violent play by yelling "I hit my missus harder than that."

Oh dear. The silence was deafening.

I haven't been to a game for a while but last time I did, along from me were 4 lads who spent the entire game playing with their phones, and our row was full of a bunch of day trippers from the weak bladder society. I felt in the minority actually being interested in the game. Coming up on 29th Dec for the game though and still excited despite.
