New signings for 2013/2014 season

Post by champanzie »

Surely we must be signing in some big names at the end of this season. We need a fullback as there looks like there is nobody coming through the academy to replace Geordan, surely we are going to need to bring in decent back row? Who would you like to see at Tigers? I would like to see Beal at 15 for tigers.
Come on you tigers!

From my recall Matt Tait was actually signed to take over from Geordan Murphy

He scored a Try and was playing as per his last outing at 15.

I really believe Tait will come good for us this season at 15. I've heard a few things said from the players and RC that Matt is looking back to his old form in training and when you hear players like Bowden tweet that Tait is one of the most gifted players he has ever seen you have to take note - think of Bowdens time at the Highlanders and Crusaders this is big praise indeed!

There are very few players who can replace Geordan at 15 in the same style, we can't afford 2 of them Beale & Dagg(If only, but a fully fit Tait would get close as would Andre Taylor from NZ if he doesn't get selected for the AB's.

We need Back Row, Adam Thompson or Keegan Daniel float my boat, both very much like Newby.

We may well need 2nd Cover as our present lot are either going to be with or tied up with England.

Most of all we need to find a captain from somewhere either a new recruit or within the squad.
To win is not as important as playing with style!

Captain has to be from within. And a name that is first on the team sheet.

Step forward - G. Parling Esq.

I know this will upset a few, but we need to find another world class tight head because our 2nd one behind Coley isn't doing a fat lot at the moment. :smt017

I do believe that Castro is suffering with celiac disorder (not sure if that is the correct term). However hard it may be we do have some good younger props eg: Brookes and Mulipola can play either end of the front row.

I'm firmly in the Parling for Captain camp. When fit he ALWAYS plays full game. Some might say he has enough to do with being in charge of line-out, but I seem to remember a certain Mr Johnson managed both reasonably well!

Pretty sure HH Ben Kay ran the line out for Tigers and England.

My bad MJC for missing Mr Kay off the list! The precedent has definitely been set.

Croft would be a good pick for captain. Long term I think Slater will be Parling's regular partner and he reminds me very much of MJ. Could he be the hard nosed captain in making that we need leaving Geoff to run the line out?
