What goes around... comes around.

Over the life time of the planet, it is thought that there have been 5 ice ages and during the time of the dinosaurs, the release of methane from the said dinosaurs is thought to of heated the planet up. Volcanoes are also a high CO2 producer and as you read this perhaps 20 volcanoes are erupting. Per year about 50-70 volcanoes erupt and about 160 erupt every 10 years. Far more CO2 discharged into the atmosphere than any 4x4, Aston Martin or Ferrari.

All taxes imposed on us by this and past governments are done so to make themselves look like they are doing good, and also to keep their bums on a seat in Whitehall which is their top priority.

Nothing will change in our life time!

The thing about the climate change debate is not that it shouldn't happen, but that it shouldn't be happening so fast. With a heavy dependency on fuel, we may well have expedited the process. Rather than simply taxing our usage, to try and dissuade people from using their motors or huge amounts of fuel, there should be a greater effort to develop ways in which our need to get about etc does not have such a negative impact in the first place.

Some time in November (no transmission date yet) there is going to be a Natural World special (possibly two) with Sir David Attenborough, marking his 60 years in TV and making comparisons from when he started out doing natural history TV in the 50s up to date. He has come down strongly on the opinion side of climate change, so it will be interesting to see how attitudes have changed and so on during those 60 years.
