It's worse than that. I was born at home in Kig Hill which is half way between Mansfield and Nottingham. How rough can you get?

Jacksdale, Pinxton, Ilkeston and Chaddesden immediately spring to mind.
Whatever you do, don't argue. We might never hear from you again.

Well my missus thinks I need glasses - we've been married for years and I still don't see things her way.

I recall leaving a rock band shortly before they had a New Years Eve gig at Jacksdale. They said it was like The Village of the Damned with wide eyed scary people leaning on the stage shouting: "Quo! Play Status Quo!"

The band I used to be PA for (some years ago) played a gig in a pub in Hucknall once. We all propped up the bar and had a few beers and a chat, until I asked the guitarist what we were waiting for....

He indicated with his head a large group of black-clad Goths in the corner of the room. "We've got to wait until it's dark and then the Undead back there will rise..."

anyway that's off topic - sorry mrsmoody and everyone else. :smt010

No, that's a suitable anecdote. :smt005

Way back in the sixties Jimi Hendrix was playing a gig in London which was clearly populated by spoilt rich kids who had decorated themselves in hugely expensive kaftans, flowers, beads, bandanas and all the other paraphenalia.

Hendrix opened his gig by saying: "I need to tell you I don't need any hippies in here. But you guys can stay."

I don't think any of them realised he was taking the p*ss out of them.

I had a beautiful dark haired Irish girl who worked for me and lived in Radford.

She had her bedsit burgled and stormed off around the dodgy second hand shops of Radford confronting great big blokes and saying "That is my TV, and I want to know what you've done with my video!"

The same girl in her student days was a star employee for MacDonalds in Leicester but was banned from taking any part in kids' birthday parties as any misbehaviour from the young oiks had her striding across the floor braying: "I will kill you little fekkers!"
