I know this is going off thread, but regards that link, I regularly light an outdoor fire at our place and I'm pretty good at it. I need stuff that will ignite easily, oxygen, something that will provide the spark, and due notice as to the wind direction.

But invariably some ragged a**e bloke will amble up whilst the kindling is burning nicely and say: "Do you want me to chuck some petrol on that?"

Jesus! How long do you have to live on this earth to understand that petrol is an immensely dangerous substance that is deliberate processed to become volatile? Did no one ever go to school?

Husband has just come home and reports that cars are still queuing outside Sainsburys petrol station back onto the A6.

they have to give 7 days notice of any strike (although I'm not sure if this is working days or just days?)

I was a little low on petrol last night and decided to fill up at Sainsburys Fosse Park. I could not believe the length of the queue so decided to head straight home......filled up today!!

Ridiculous queues in this neck of the wood. And Tesco's has run out of diesel.

I live opposite a tiny petrol station and the queue is busy, but not dreadful. I need to fill up a can for my lawnmower, but I just don't want the shame of the village thinking I am a panic buyer, so I am just letting the grass grow! :emb:

Either:

Drive lawnmower into garage;

Or:

Syphon petrol out of car into can then fill up car.

Oh sh*t we borrowed two from our local farmer and I think they were brought up watching "The Great Escape" on TV.

They would always get out and stand on the slabbed patio looking gormless, and despite attempts to remove some fencing and say "Get back on the f***ing grass you morons!", they would do a quick shilly shally worthy of Austin Healey and end up in the car park where there is also no grass.

This week I have had an escaped jack russel bounding about the garden like a thing possessed. Those :censored: can't half jump. And my regulars Mr and Mrs Pete, the pheasants. So seeing as how my garden is clearly not remotely critter proof I had better forego on the livestock. Also SOMETHING BIG is pooing on my shed and it's a carnivore and not a cat. So I like pushing (driving - Kinny! how posh are you :smt003 ) my lawnmower over the road - a brilliant plan.

This is seriously off thread but I now have:

Spud: Jack Russell / Norfolk cross
Jacqui: Miniature Jack Russell
Nigel: Miniature Jack Russell
Barry Baxter: Norfolk Terrier

Individually they are fabulous dogs, but by crikey, take all four out at once and it really is like "Who let the dogs out?!"

I gave up today and put the little beggars back in the car. (Very little fuel was consumed in the making of this post.)
