Sensible. Cannot see him being banned for more than two weeks - unless the "Tigers Effect" is brought into play.

Plead guilty, show remorse, claim (rightly) provocation, exemplary record....... etc etc Four weeks reduced to two.

The internal ban could be very smart, hopefully they will deem that to be enough or just add an extra week.

By the way he exited the field on sunday I doubt he would of been available anyway.

so 2 weeks out; but what about the cause? being held back and unable to complete his role as a scrum half?
silly in the extreme, but the cause has to looked at! its a professional foul!

Provocation is a mitigating circumstance!

(Doesn't ususally count if you are a Tiger though!!)

Counted for Manu ;)

Good idea for Tigers to ban him so any ban that might later be imposed probably won't be suspended to miss out the HC break.

Good point Kit - I'd forgotten about the Heineken Cup break! Hopefully we'll have him back for the game against Saints then. Am I being forgetful or is this Ben's first citing? If so given age, good record and provocation he probably won't get much. The only problem is that he has been cited for striking with the knee and fist which have seperate entry points of 3 and 2 weeks respectively. So they will probably have to start with 5 weeks, and knock off a couple due to the mitigating factors.

This is an excellent point - he was helped off by two people, and the danger is that the pre-emptive ban could appear so cynical that the panel don't reduce any sentence they may pass. But if he's really injured then nothing has been lost anyway.

However, according to the post-match chat with Cockers on ESPN, Ben Youngs' substitution was more precautionary than owt else. Cockers reckoned all he had was a bit of a scraped shin.

Poacher turned gamekeeper who better to spot 'indiscretions'
IMHO, Wade Dooley has cited Youngs for missing with the 2 punches. :smt009

Well, what do you expect from a back (with the exception of Manu of course)?

You jolly well keep running it Big Dai while the backs get on and win the game - ahhhh a perfect balance!
Harrumph! We toil, We sweat, we win the ball an then give it to some tarts with combs in their back pockets who either hoof it down the opposition's throat at the first sign of danger OR play an uncoordinated game of pass the handbag which allways ends up with a knock on. Then it's over to the fat boys to win it again. If they actually do get the damn thing over the line they indulge in silly dives or hi fiving giveing no thanks at all to the superior element who got them there in the first place.I think the YBY affair is a perfect illustration of the way backs behave. Wind 'em up enough and they go off on one and do something daft. Whilst things stay as they are the winder uppers have the upper hand.
