Dan Bowden from Irish to Tigers?
Just watching highlight of Irish game today (great result btw) and the commentators mentioned Dan Bowden (London Irish 10 today) may be moving to Tigers. Does anyone know if this is true or what other signings Tigers have for next season?
I understand the following are leaving
Twelvetrees
Agulla
A Tuilagi (am I right?)
Do we have a host of new backs being signed up to replace them?

Re: Dan Bowden from Irish to Tigers?
From what I understand, Bowden is pretty much signed and sealed along with Adam Thompstone (also Irish) and Miles Benjamin (Worcester). There were only image rights and a few minor details to sort out, last time I heard.
Although not confirmed, Alex Tuilagi is believed to be heading to Japan, Agulla's future is still uncertain and Hamilton is yet to sign a new deal. Twelvetrees is definitely heading to Gloucester.

Who will have more regrets Bowden for leaving Irish or Billy for leaving Tigers!
Of course this is my own opinion and other posters may have a different perceived factual viewpoint.

The latter I suspect, it's possible that Glos won't be in HC next season.

I think Hamilton is supposed to be here next season. For the backs the movements are supposed to be:
Going:
Grindal - Bristol
A Tuilagi - Japan (BIG money)
Agulla - no new deal because of Argentinian participation in the 4N
Twelvetrees - Gloucester
Staunton - released
Coming:
Bowden - LI
Thompstone - LI
Benjamin - Wuss
Rumours of more fullback cover en route as well (Fijian international and Thomas from Dragons linked).

Neither - Richard Cockerill for his 'man-management' skills (or lack of) over the last 3 years.Smurphswillgetya wrote:Who will have more regrets Bowden for leaving Irish or Billy for leaving Tigers!
Re: Dan Bowden from Irish to Tigers?
I need to check when I play the match back tonight but I'm sure that Nick Mullins referred to Allinson the scrum half coming to Leicester - he said something along the lines of " he'll have many sunny days in Leicester".
I'm sure he's wrong given our list of number 9's - probably meant Bowden
Did anyone else hear that? Or is it me !!

Hambo :- He was with England when he was injured, but he was a Tigers player, our player. He is still our player.”
Re: Dan Bowden from Irish to Tigers?
Wrong I hope! And Thomas isn't coming here, he's off to Glaws I think.
Leicester Tigers 1995-
Nottingham 1995-2000
Swansea (Whites) 1988-95
A game played on grass in the open air by teams of XV.

If anyone heard the comments by Cockerill on ESPN after the game Bowden coming to Tigers is now the worst kept secret around. No maybes he's on the way here.

I was at the game but wasn't close enough to see who it was that Manu flattened. I've been told it was Bowden (??). If it was, it was a helluva 'welcome to Leicester' from our Manu!

Re: Dan Bowden from Irish to Tigers?

Re: Dan Bowden from Irish to Tigers?
Bowden will not come just as 3rd choice cover behind Flood and Ford.
Given their likely international commitments and the possibility of injury, he will indeed cover for them at 10.
However, with Twelvetrees going, Bowden will also compete with AA for Inside Centre.
The genuine advantage that his arrival gives is that he will not be away on international duty, as would always be the risk with both Twelvetrees and AA. Therefore, there will be both greater flexibility and quality cover.
A shrewd bit of recruitment methinks, following Billy's decision to opt for the promise of being 1st Choice 12 and a bigger pay packet with the Cherry & Whites.
