Daktari

Your point about Barnces is well made. On the TV coverage you clearly hear him say "I saw the Leicester winger throw several punches ..." which now no one else seems to have seen. If he cannot be certain what has happened he should not make it up. Disappointing.

I think he reffed the rest of the game pretty well, but he will only be remembered for his bad mistake, in which I think the ARs were compliant. He only appeared to ask them what else they saw, he did not ask them to confirm what he had seen. Was he making up for his leniencey to Manu in last year's play off semi? Maybe, but he should not have been IMHO.

I think if Alex gets punished it will be very harsh - he was very severely provoked was he not???

I cant believe nothing was done about Ashton. How on earth does he keep getting away with it??? Thuggish behaviour isnt big or clever but he carries on doing it as he knows he will get off scot-free every bleeding time!!! :smt013

Anyone know of a precedent for this? I doubt that such a clear public statement of a referee's mistake is in the RFU's repertoire.

Precedent? BOD tackled Umaga (I think) by the hair. He didn't drag him along the ground and apologised immediately. The matter was closed until...

To avoid players taking matters into their own hands, there must be punishments. IMHO Ashton should receive a lengthy ban at least six weeks. He had only one intention in this match. Lawes, Wood, Agulla and Murphy one or two weeks each. Tuilagi should just have his red card rescinded.

The behavior at Saints is getting worse and needs addressing particularly with their England players. They are a great team, but too much off the ball stuff is going on.
