Twickenham pubs

Are their any pubs that anyone would recommend enjoying a tipple in both before and after the match on saturday?

The Aisla Tavern is usually pretty good, it is a bit further away on St Margarets Road, but it is a comfortable family atmosphere. I have gone there for the last two years and always felt welcome, you can also book tables and buy decent meals. There is a quickish route to stadium down side street which you will see if you google it.

Royal Oak on the other side of the Sewerageworks is good and you can park for free. 5-10 min walk to the Stadium.

Yeah the Cabbage Patch and the garryowen across the street are great rugby pubs, but they're always HEAVING on match day.

Theres a corking pub opposite the Orleans park school that serves ace beer and run a BBQ on match day that isn't nearly as busy. Royal Oak I think it is.

The Royal Oak on Richmond Road is what used to called The Tup.

A few others are:
- Turk's Head in St Margaret's (like the Ailsa, a bit off the beaten track)
- Eel Pie on Church St (best run pub in Twick)
- Barmy Arms on river (v. lively post-match)
- Sun Inn in Richmond (classic rugby pub)

As a fellow exile in West London, I'd add the Prince Blucher (Fullers, decently kept) on Twickenham Green,15 mins walk along the back streets to the Stadium. Certainly our favoured haunt before Twickenham matches. Big outside space.

The Eel pie is magnificent, especially when the sun is shining - right on the river. And post match, expect music, singing, food and a 3 hour queue to get to the bar!

Agreed, and the Barmy Arms, 30 seconds across the way, is also excellent.

We always go to the Orange Tree. It’s heaving like everywhere else but you usually get served quickly and stand outside. We started going because the shuttle bus picked up there although the pickups are now round the back where the Sun Inn is. It’s just become a habit I suppose
