Sackey released by Toulon

Not performed well enough, apparently.
I recall that Cockers tried to sign him a couple of years ago. Should he have another go, or are we sorted with Niall Morris and Tait coming in?

Depends how cheap he is I suppose.
Can't see that we need him.

I for one would like to see Sackey in Tigers shirt. Great finisher that always looks for work. Was always a pain in the backside when at Wasps I am sure we could get him back in the England team ahead of Cueto.
Re: Sackey released by Toulon
I remember when he played for bedford my dad was involved in the coaching set up and he got me and some friends into a training session with the first team and I can say that I tackled Paul Sackey.
However the tackle did consist of about four six year olds hanging onto his legs and I think he went down a bit easy.

Re: Sackey released by Toulon
Sackey's quick, but hopeless under high balls, and I would question his work ethic in defence, not attack.
We don't have anyone with his pace in our team however which is quite telling.Youngs is our quickest and he didn't come close to closing the gap on Ojo on Saturday for their first intercept try. I'd rate Sackey quicker than Topsy Ojo.
All subjective opinion of of course.

Do you think Youngs is quicker than Horacio and Crofty? I am not being argumentative, just curious as to your thoughts.Purebob wrote:Youngs is our quickest.....
I used to be indecisive now I just can't make up my mind
Re: Sackey released by Toulon
I reckon Sackey would go to somewhere like LI, Exeter,or maybe Sale or Newcastle could do with a decent player or 2.
I don't think Wasps would take him back although I could be wrong.

Yep. Ben doesn't have a loping stride like Croft but look at his work against Bath in the second half for example to see how sharp he is. Get up to speed quicker than the bigger lads too.Sherpa2 wrote:Do you think Youngs is quicker than Horacio and Crofty? Agulla doesn't strike me as a speedster when I have watched him play. Absolutely zero empirical metrics there of course just watching from the stands.
Incidentally in the academy match on Saturday there was a blonde lad on the left wing for England wearing " O2" on his back who was absolutely razor fast. Anybody know his name ?
Re: Sackey released by Toulon
If I'm not mistaken, I'm sure I read somewhere that Matt Smith and Croft are probably the 2 quickest players we have.
Not sure we need another winger either.

Re: Sackey released by Toulon
Didn't we get rid of Varndell for being allegedly being feeble in defence?
Sackey's similar in that he doesn't look convincing but holds up players long enough for them to be dealt with by others.

He was very quick, wasn't he - remains to see if he makes the grade ....Purebob wrote:Incidentally in the academy match on Saturday there was a blonde lad on the left wing for England wearing " O2" on his back who was absolutely razor fast. Anybody know his name ?

Iouldn't mind a straight swap Sackey for Lee Robinson!
