Don't mean to be negative.
Just a bit disappointed with half back selection.
Forwards look good though. C'mon Tigers lets have the win!

I would have liked to see Hawkins start ahead of Chuter though

Not that surprising as both Youngs and Floody looked as though they were nursing injuries by the end of the Glaws game.
Shame about the injury to Mafi; and I think both Hawkins and Agulla are a little unlucky not to be starting. I can see that Smith needs some game time.
Overall a more balanced set of forwards - graet to see Marcos back.

Tend to agree Steve, he played well against Glaws and deserves some game time. Hopefully George will come out to prove that last week was a one off.Scuba Steve wrote:I would have liked to see Hawkins start ahead of Chuter though

Re: tigers v newcastle teams
Recipe for slow ball and a kicking game? Tigers may get an LBP?

Re: tigers v newcastle teams
strong pack not great at half backs but it could be just what youngs and flood need. The bench is not that strong for the forwards but we now have backs on the bench that will make a real difference. If we are in the game after 60 mins bring on those 3 and it could turn it in our favour
Re: tigers v newcastle teams
The removal of form as a selection criterion really does help when it comes to naming a side.
The impact that the likes of Staunton and Chuter had last week, securing an unlikely draw when others would have given up and just taken the win, really deserves some recognition and reward.

interesting selection - would like to have seen 36 start to give him a bit more game time esp. if aa is nursing an injury.
cheers

I agree, apart from your comment about the bench forwards, where I assume you are referring to Green - a bench with Stanko, Hawkins, Cole, and Woods is not too shabby imo.

He lost his first three lineouts, not just two.tom_s252 wrote:Good to see Chuter rewarded for his cameo against Gloucester, during which he lost two lineouts and one scrum against the head...

I also thinks Hawkins give's us more around the field than Chute's does now.4071 wrote:He lost his first three lineouts, not just two.tom_s252 wrote:Good to see Chuter rewarded for his cameo against Gloucester, during which he lost two lineouts and one scrum against the head...

Re: tigers v newcastle teams
Agree regarding Hawkins, very unlucky not to be starting. At least 36 is on the bench this week!
Interesting that Newcastle have left the two Tigers bound players (Young and Brookes) on the bench - almost a Cockerellesque selection or is it genuinely on form?
