EXETER CHIEFS LV CUP GAME

Post by smalldell »

Just realised England Saxons play on the same day which mean no:-

Flood
Youngs
Cole
Deacon
Chuter
Croft (injured)
All with England

AA
12T's
Crane
Hipkiss

Believe Manu with England under 20s along with several others

Also gone:-

Murphy
Castro
and two others for Italy.

Who is left?

Stankovich
Robinson
White
Mafi
Slater
Green
Newby
Waldrum
Grindall
Staunton
Smith
Hamilton

And Academy players...Will the likes of Geoge Ford be available?
Would also suggest that some of the above may well be rested for LV cup games, which is only sensible..

Good luck to the lads who get picked.

Is this going to be the official Chiefs v Tigers match thread?

If you're planning on going to this match, I suggest you pack your boots just in case. :smt002
Whatever you do, don't argue. We might never hear from you again.

Why would Flood, Youngs and Cole be turning out for the Saxons?
What other two Italian players do we have in our squad?

I think the England boys and Castro will be missing 'cos its the 6N callup period. I think we won't lose Agulla and Ayerza though, don't think Argentina are playing in the same period. For the LV I don't think we'd put out a first team anyway.

Strongest available side (even if ALL our Saxons players are called up):

1. Ayerza / Stankovich
2. Hawkins / Duffey
3. Castrogiovanni / White
4. Green
5. Slater
6. Mafi / Hemingway
7. Newby / Armes
8. Waldrom

9. Grindal / Harrison
10. Staunton / Ford (club takes priority over U20s)
11. A.Tuilagi
12. M.Tuilagi (club takes priority over U20s)
13. Smith / Forsyth
14. Agulla
15. Hamilton

That would probably be the strongest side we've put out in the competition to date. And not all of our Saxons are going to be called up anyway.

Strongest side?? Why bother?

Stanko
Hawkins
Bucknall
Slater
Green
Hemingway
Mafi
Armes

Harrison
Ford
Robinson
Twelvetrees
Forsyth
Hurrell
Agulla

Something like that would seem about right.

Unfortunately Armes is injured- he limped off after 10 mins of the Notts-Esher game last Tuesday.

In view of this basically being considered a competition for the Academy / fringe players / injury returnees to be able to shine in, I would expect something akin to the team we put out for the Ospreys away game i.e.

15 Lucas Amorosino
14 Lee Robinson
13 Dan Hipkiss
12 Andy Forsyth
11 Will Hurrell
10 George Ford
9 Sam Harrison
1 Camilo Parilli-Ocampo
2 Rob Hawkins
3 Ryan Bower
4 Calum Green
5 Ben Gulliver
6 Dan Hemingway
7 Matt Everard
8 Steve Mafi

16 Joe Duffey
17 Pete Bucknall
18 Fraser Balmain
19
20 Ed Slater
21 James Grindal
22 Stephen Macaulay
23 Rory Lynn

With Armes injured I'm not sure who else could be on the subs bench.

Chiefs may well go for this competition as they are now out of the Amlin and probably as high, and safe, in the Premiership. Also to beat Tigers would be seen down here as a real scalp, and the fact it will be our 2nd/3rd team won't be mentioned!

Amorosino is out. Recovering from a hernia op.

What happened to the lock we loaned from Cornwall, Mr Gulliver? Has he gone off on his travels back to whence he came or is he still here?
Tigers for the premiership and European Cup. Get behind the team and make some noise!!

'In September, Cornish Pirates announced they had agreed to a three-month loan deal for Ben to go to Leicester Tigers as temporary cover for injured England international locks Geoff Parling and Louis Deacon' .......so may be he's gone back.

Re availability if you think the Exeter game is a problem then just wait for the Bath match 4 Feb. The u-20's are playing Wales that weekend that could account for at least 3 more of the younger players who might have been selected; and Julian will probably be lambing.
