All the festive shopping is done (so Mrs Spike tells me) and wrapped (again same source).
I do have to take the mini-spike's to the shops (probably Saturday afternoon once the youngest is back from the animal shelter he helps at) at which point we will approach the shops (in Norwich) in the same way we look at tackle practise on a Sunday morning.

Hate the ads on the TV - M&S is just so cheesy.

After the Xmas Goose, and the Xmas pud (washed down with a seasonal punch), a nice piece of stilton goes down well with the port.

Wouldn't source it from M&S though.

Tell me about it! I took the day off yesterday to do some Christmas Shopping and wrapped up for temperatures that were registering -2 outside. All this waiting at bus stops can be a bit cold. But in the Highcross it was meltingly hot. The staff were going around in T-Shirts (almost mis-typed that, twice!) and Debenhams was the worst.

They started another of their 20% off specials today. Bah humbug!

think the 20% event is quite good - bought he who must be obeyed :smt003 a lovely Guinness rugby shirt today and got quite a bit of money off it - quite chuffed. Unfortunately I then went and spent £30 in Selfridges to make up for it :smt042

How about we have a forum Yule party - December 21st? Get your cakes and ale (or equivalent), sit at the computer and we can moan and drink and eat to our hearts' content.

Here's today's Christmas moan. Stupid magazine articles telling you how to have a stress-free Christmas. The one I was looking at earlier started off by telling you how to dye your table linen "festive colours" and stitch sequins and buttons and ribbon on it. Then it started on painting tree branches and hanging home made candy canes and fudge in little bags off it. Finally it told you to cut down on housework by only cleaning kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and giving a quick dust and hoover. That IS my housework! Cut down on cleaning time by not taking cushions off sofa and moving furniture to hoover behind and under it? That's Spring cleaning you oafs! Winter is when you clean the bits that show, the kitchen and bathroom to be hygienic, and then you have a nice hot drink and a biscuit or two.

Oh and then the article finishes by telling you what fashionable clothes to change into so we can all look like Nigella while we cook Christmas dinner. I will be in jeans and a t-shirt and trying not to drop the roasting potatoes on the floor like I did the other year.

Ok, today's Christmas moan is that even though our Christmas shopping is done (see previous post) the eldest mini-spike informed us last evening of his wish to purchase his young lady a festive present.......(read "Dad, can you lend me £X and take me to our local fine city on Saturday).

So afternoon in Norwich to be enjoyed........ :smt011

I hate to break it to you, Spike, but it doesn't improve even when they're students.

My Bah Humbug.
I gave up writing christmas cards years ago. I used to do the usual, and write to just about everyone, and saw lots of them perhaps only once or twice a year, if indeed that. I really didn't see the point of continuing.
Just more junk for the binmen.
So now I dont bother (apart from my immediate family).
The ones I receive I recycle into tags for my kids/grandkids pressies.
Money and planet saved!

Am beginning to realise that, just sorting colleges out for eldest and the travel costs for getting from one part of the back end of nowhere to another are massive before the new kit, boots, fitness stuff, gym membership, books and everything else......

Still be worth it when he picks my care home.....
