Injuries - Flood & Croft

Post by Tom Tom »

I have not seen the SA game yet but see that Toby & Tom were taken off injured.

Anyone know how seriously these injuries are?

Please tell me they were only slight knocks.

Please :smt721

Croft looked serious, walked of supporting his left wrist looking much in pain, my mate thought it was break. Flood will probably be OK.

IMO there are too many England games. during the season, this sort of thing is inevitable.

I think its been discussed recently on here, but, why dont have an Injury List with updates on the web? I dont understand it. Its as simple as giving weekly updates of the injury list with the injury next to it. Almost all the football clubs do it, and sometimes its just hard to find info on the recovery period of some players, hell, sometimes you dont even hear about the player until is finally recovered. Is there any strategy behind this media blackout?

It's not a media blackout, if it was then the Mercury and local radio would not get reports on press day. It is simply that the Club choose not to give out injury lists, predicted returns and so on - from experience if an announcement was made that XX player was returning on Xdate for such and such a game and then he didn't, it would cause considerable moaning and complaints of "why are we given wrong information?"

A bit of an update on injuries.

Doesn't seem to be much in Flood's injury (which is one plus at least) but it appears that Croft will be out for a couple of months:

The Telegraph is a tad more optimistic:

Really hope this isn't serious, trust it to be the Tigers players that get injured in this game!

Worst injury crisis though?

Dan Hipkiss, but would you really drop Smith or Manu with the form they are on?
Jeremy Staunton, but with Twelvetrees in amazing form and Ford looking good he's now 3rd choice at best.
Boris Stankovich, Bucknalls looked a lot better against Newcastle, and Harris is now fit.
Geoff Parling, most missed.
Tom Croft, with Waldroum playing well and Deacon back it's not as bad as it could have been, still a big loss though.
Ben Pienaar, yet to have a good showing this season.

We've been in much worse positions then we are in now, as long as Youngs stays fit we'll progress in the HC

Bill, is this some obscure reference to Mrs Dale's Diary? Or are you concerned that Dan Cole has indeed been thrown in to international rugby too soon?

Not as subtle as either (although the former raised a wry smile! :smt001 ) .

I worry that Dan Hipkiss may not be seen again in a Tigers shirt.

[quote="jgriffin"]Is Croft going to become the new Lewis, injured for us but fit for England and Lions? In the middle of one of our worst injury crises another -huge and possibly HC threatening - injury occurs to one of our key players.

I think you could be right JG. BBC News Sport are reporting that its a broken shoulder and he could be fit again for the 6N. No mention of Tigers!!

I worry that we will not see Dan Hipkiss on a rugby field again.

However at Tigers I now feel we have better options then him, but I wouldn't want to see him leave because of injury!
