I think the guys concerned would have been quite happy to have heard a song of theirs played about half one, in the background! It was not as grating as "Stand up for Saracens" Still there you go.

Couple of friends of mine spent a couple of years waiting for a Tigers response to a number of songs they had sorted, recorded and sent in to the club.

After a fair while some supporters group had the songs on the agenda and didnt seem to realise the effort and expense that had been put in.
This was unasked for effort which sometimes pays off and sometimes is ignored: c'est la vie. The first tranche of posts here said quite definitely NO SONGS. This thread has drifted back to "well - perhaps". Others may choose to have songs, that is their culture but I prefer chants (simple), cheering and moaning as appropriate behaviour at WR.

Me too, besides there isn't anytime to sing songs as it is all action....

Well, there you go then - songs are unwanted. Fair enough. We'll just continue to yell Tigers, Tigers.........and folks will still post on message boards about songs, cheerleaders........ :smt015  :vom: The masses have spoken!

I have seen this topic appear every year since 2003. There is support for a rousing song, but there is not the support to see the project through right to the bitter end. To the Club's great credit, it did try, but the selected song (a recording of which was played at a match) was more like a church hymn than a battle cry, and was generally ridiculed. Maybe the Club got cold feet after that, but without the Club's support (and participation) the "song project" will continue for ever on the life-support machine, never quite killed off, but nonetheless never to breathe the fresh air of match-day. :smt035

The topic first popped up after we played munster in the hc final and tigers wanted to do a song but no one ever carried it through.

I think instead of a song we should bring back a chant as the team marches onto the pitch e.g. DEANO! DEANO! but substitute to MURPHY! MURPHY! Come on crumbie terrace, you can start it, imagine that atmosphere again! I remember on the Deano video that all the players that visited welford road were intimidated by the sheer volume under the crumbie!

I cannot think of any artificially imposed song being successful in any sport. Munster, Liverpool FC, West Ham all have associated songs, none of which were specially written. It doesn't work. Let's not try to make it happen here. Please.

Jesus can't play rugby 'cus he's got holes in his hands,
Jesus can't play rugby 'cus he's got holes in his hands,
Jesus can't play rugby 'cus he's got holes in his hands,
And he aint gunna play no more.

Jesus can't play rugby 'cus he's only got 12 mates,
Jesus can't play rugby 'cus he's only got 12 mates,
Jesus can't play rugby 'cus he's only got 12 mates,
And he aint gunna play no more.

Jesus can't play rugby 'cus his head gear is illegal,
Jesus can't play rugby 'cus his head gear is illegal,
Jesus can't play rugby 'cus his head gear is illegal,
And he aint gunna play no more.

Jesus can't play rugby 'cus we nailed him to the post,
Jesus can't play rugby 'cus we nailed him to the post,
Jesus can't play rugby 'cus we nailed him to the post,
And he aint gunna play no more.

I agree that if any song took off it would have to be instantly recognisable and easy to sing.

So all we need is the chap on the mike to say:
"Hey you, don't watch that
Watch this!
This is the heavy heavy monster sound
The nuttiest sound around
So if you've come in off the street
And you're beginning to feel the heat
Well listen buster
You better start to move your feet
To the rockinest, rock-steady beat
Of Madness
One step beyond!"

And then all the crowd has to do is jump around like lunatics going: Der-der-der-der Der-der-der-der.......
Kicks and scrums and ruck and roll.....Is all my brain and body need!
