So sad for Harry, injury came just when he was establishing himself as englands number1, and one of the worlds best 9s, so really pleased you at least got your lions caps! Fantastic player. Top bloke.

Would it kill Cockerill to gush a bit when a player like Lewis, Harry or Ben Kay leave!?!

Really sad to hear that injury has forced another talent from the game. Opposition clubs are running threads on their pages in relation to the retirement, showing how much of a thorn in their side Ellis was and how he was help in such high regard.
Smashing little player, everything you'd want in a Scrumhalf, quick, sharp and exceptionally annoying and in your face.
From an Irish and Munster fan, I wish him all the best and hope that the Tigers hold on to him in some capacity as he really was a true son of the club.

Saw Harry in Leicester soon after he announced his retirement. He looked pretty glum but content. :smt009

:smt010 :smt010 Just got back from my holiday and hadn't heard the news. I'm absolutely gutted for him. It's a shame when any player retires but, injury permitting, Harry could have gone on to be the best in the NH, maybe the world.

All the best mate :smt023

Harry you are a superstar, no more needs to be said. Yesterday was a sad day.

Tigers, England and the Lions will miss you.

Hopefully see you on the terrace some time soon.

Thanks for all the good times.

I originally posted this over on the WR Chit Chat forum but I hope that its ok to post it here - I deleted the original post.

This is my tribute to Harry - it was only done yesterday and looks a bit strange here as it was only an hour and a half old when this pic was taken - but it looks really red and angry at the minute so this one is a better pic anyway!

Have to say I'm probably just as gutted as hww27 by this news... whilst it wasn't entirely unexpected it's still incredibly sad and doesn't make these words any easier to write. A huge thanks and well done to Harry on a career to be very proud of - even though it was unfairly cut short there are still many good times to remember. I only met him once but he seemed a top bloke, totally genuine and very patient and understanding with all the swooning fans! Wishing you all the very best for the future Harry, I'm really sorry we won't have the pleasure of seeing you pull on the Tigers or England shirt again.

such sad news. My nomination for top Ellis moment: the Munster away game in the 06/07 HC - he made the break that led to Geordan's try (I think), running straight through O'Gara.
