Saffas arrogant, you don't say? Obviously they are angling for SARFU to take control.

Ahem. You are going to have to explain that to me.

I would rank Bath <spit>, Wasps <swat>, Glaws <hoot>, and Saints <chuckle> way above Sarries. And Tigers of course.

What have Sarries ever won?

You clearly don't do irony do you Bill - or sarcasm. Well, being an Essex boy that's easy to understand.

Yet more:
The Rugby Football Union issued a damning indictment of Saracens and their director of rugby Brendan Venter in a written judgement of the South African's 14-week touchline ban.

Saracens appeal Venter touchline ban
Disciplinary officer Jeff Blackett's judgment censured Venter for his "disdain" in eating a biscuit and throwing sweet papers as he awaited his sentence.
The club later hit back, saying the judgment bordered on self-parody and claimed English rugby was run like "a rural prep school."
Former Springbok World Cup winning centre Venter was banned on Tuesday and forced to watch Saracens' Twickenham Premiership final against Leicester on television after being found guilty of making inappropriate gestures and comments to Leicester fans during a match at Welford Road on May 8.
He was cleared of pushing a female Leicester supporter during the fracas, but Saracens still reacted angrily to the sentence and the nature and procedure of the enquiry.
The RFU, in turn, issued its lengthy written judgment from Blackett.
"(Saracens) staff were clearly involved in some unpleasant events on May 8 which could have led to significant crowd trouble, but they have sought to lay blame elsewhere," the judgment said.
"On this occasion Saracens should have done more to ensure better behaviour amongst their own staff and to reprimand them for their poor behaviour afterwards."
Venter attracted the ire of the Leicester fans, among whom he and his assistants were forced to sit, for blocking their view when he constantly stood up and waved his arms.
His reaction, to blow kisses and offer a sarcastic bow, did not go down well with them or Judge Blackett.
"We are disappointed that Dr Venter does not seem to understand the seriousness of this case," Blackett said.
"Knowing how the crowd was reacting he should not have waved, bowed and blown kisses before halftime and at the end of the match. He showed no sensitivity or awareness of the ethos of rugby but instead continued knowingly to provoke the crowd."
The final straw for Blackett appears to be that Venter did not give him and his committee the respect they felt they deserved.
"Witnesses spoke of his arrogant behaviour and the panel witnessed a certain disdain from Venter when he appeared at the hearing (for example by coming back to hear his sanction eating a biscuit and throwing sweet papers across the table) and it is important that any sanction has a salutary effect so that he modifies his behaviour in future," he said.
"If he cannot control his emotional outbursts then he is likely to come before a disciplinary panel again."
Saracens, who have a strong South African connection through their coaching and playing staff, issued their own statement where chief executive Edward Griffiths said: "Blackett's judgement borders on self-parody, citing Venter eating a biscuit as alleged evidence of disdain for the process. Why did the RFU provide biscuits if they were not to be eaten? "Perhaps it is time for English rugby to be run like a modern professional sport, and not a rural prep school.
"It goes without saying we will appeal against Blackett's judgment."

OH.. THE BRENDAN VENTER – SIT DOWN (SHOUT LOUDER! WHILST SITTING DOWN)
OH.. THE BRENDAN VENTER
STAND UP - SIT DOWN - RAH RAH RAH

Correction to my previous post. With our last home game of the season we overtook Sarries in terms of attendance. We finished with 268,687 and Sarries with 263,013
Of course this is my own opinion and other posters may have a different perceived factual viewpoint.

I can just see Venter eating biscuits and throwing sweet wrappers across the table showing open distain for the whole process. Griffiths' comments should also be charged as bringing the game into disrepute.

Whatever is believed, it is clear that Venter and other Saracens officials behaved badly on May 8 and Venter (as the boss) failed completely to control himself or the behavior of the Saracens entourage. Is that kind of behavior really where we want rugby to go?

Given the appeal, the ban should be lengthened and Griffiths should be charged seperately for his comments and the RFU should levy a significany (£100K+) fine for behavior not in the interests of the game.

Completely agree blunttiger

Apparently the Saracens management and supporters feel they have been harshly treated by the RFU.

From the dictionary:
Unbecoming detracting from one's appearance, character, or reputation; unattractive or unseemly.

Which part of the charge of ‘Conduct Unbecoming’ do Saracens not understand? For a professional this charge is just about as bad as it gets.

Whether or not Venter actually shoved a supporter is immaterial. He allowed himself to become embroiled in an unseemly argument with rival spectators. He then continued to antagonise and provoke those supporters for the rest of the game by blowing kisses and bowing.

Is that conduct becoming a professional Director of Rugby?

When called to account for his behaviour, he proceeds to eat biscuits and throw sweet papers whilst receiving judgement. Again is that conduct becoming a professional Director of Rugby?

Apparently Ed Griffiths thinks it is.

I would venture to suggest that your average youth up on a drunk and disorderly charge would be more respectful.

On the other hand:

Was the conduct of Britz on leaving the field of play becoming a professional Rugby player, probably not, but to some extent understandable, he apparently felt he had been abused, and reacted to it, however he was immediately mindful of his misguided action, regretted and apologised for it.

Was the conduct of Richard Cockerill on Saturday becoming, again probably not but to some extent understandable, he was responding to his perceived inconsistencies in the refereeing of a semi-final. Once again he brought himself under control and apologised to anyone to whom he may have given offence.

Ed Griffiths is saying that Venter was FORCED to sit amongst the Leicester Supporters where he could not see properly, and was then subjected to continued abuse when he stood up. What absolute CLAPTRAP, Venter was afforded one of the best seats, with the best view in the house as are all visiting coaches to Welford Road. Further if he could not see from the seat he was given there were other members of Saracens on the Front row of the Crumbie stand with whom he could have exchanged seats.

I think far from being harshly treated they can consider themselves very fortunate that effectively their only punishment is a one match ban.

RFU looking into charging Griffiths, and quite rightly too. The appeal system is there for a reason, and yet the Saracens seem intent on dragging out the whole thing in the press, which does them no favours.

Just hope we smash them next week otherwise it's going to be unbearable putting up with these arrogant Saffies and their gloating post match songs and the hypocritcal Venter.

Can we get Matt Dawson in as Tigers motivational coach? (just for this game you understand).

Personally I have always enjoyed the banter and company of the vast majority of Saracens fans, they are not responsible for the players or officials of the club and like us follow their team out of loyalty.

Venter and his board are not a true reflection of Saracens.
If winning isn't everything, why do they bother keeping score?

I do understand your sentiment Northernlad, especially with regard to the supporters but I have to disagree. Leadership has to be, by definition, a reflection of the organisation it represents and leads. And in a rugby club, that means the DoR and the Chief Exec (Board).

Their values, in time, will become the values embodied in the organisation or club since over time, people who do not adopt those values either leave or are marginalised.
