Cocker's refused by RFU !!!!

Post by Scuba Steve »

So Cocker's asked the RFU to sign a hooker on short term deal and was refused. Yet they let Saffer's sign a prop !!!!!!! Well what a shock !!!!!! :smt013 :smt013 :smt013

Could Cockers register himself as player? After all it wouldn't be a new signing he is already at tigers. :smt003

could it not come under the dispensation ruling that got us Lote? Mefin will be out for at least 3 months seeing as its 4-5 months til the new season!

(even though when he returns from injury he will not be playing for us)

I am sure the RFU are justifying it by saying it is 'too far after the transfer window closed'.

But if there is a transfer window and you allow one team to bring in a player outside that window, what legal or fair-play grounds can there be for not allowing another team even if it is later? The circumstances seem more extreme for us in terms of injuries and as cockers said, they seem to have planty of props around in the 'A' team on Monday as well as three more in the first XV.

It is one of the most frustrating parts of being a rugby supporter - the sports administrators are completely inept. They never tackle issues, fudge decisions and seem to change directions like pampus grass in the wind! And that is consistently bad across the RFU, ERC, IRB - they really are as bad as each other.

Whilst on that subjuct, whatever happened to the Tincu affair? The Jennings citation from last season? I can't think of a sport that is administered worse than Rugby.

It makes me laugh when a football manager is irate because a linesman didn't flag for offside when the opposition player was clearly 3mm offside! Or the penalty that was not given when a defender clearly coughed and forced the player over! We regularly see players 3, 4 even 5M offside and the linesman doesn't notice it.

Rugby - a game poorly officiated and poorly administred.

On a serious note, I think there are two different regulations.

The first is an RFU one - which says that you cannot register new players in a season (transfers in) after March. It is from this that the RFU have refused dispensation .

The second is the PRL salary cap one which says that if a player is injured for a long period you may be allowed to go over the salary cap. It was such dispensation (Geordan being injured) that allowed us to bring in Lote.

Concur bluntiger.

What happenned in the Tincu affair was that a French Court ruled that the evidence placed before HHJ J. Blackett was inadmissable.

btw have Magners spoken over Ospreys refusing to play Ulster?

The Ospreys hearing has been put back having fallen during the ash cloud problems hence the flights to the court in Scotland could no be made.

Cockerill has every right to feel agreeved. Not only is it completely unfair it is potentially dangerous. What happens if Duffey or Chutes pulls a muscle and Stevens our 19 year old completely unexperienced hooker has to take a place on the bench. He would have too as well as the rules dictate you now have to have front row replacements on bench, if he enters the fray he could seriously injure himself as the players on the opposing team will be far more experienced and far bigger.

Quite, though why this has appeared in a thread about Cockers and the RFU baffles me.

Another attempt at O's bashing 'cos there aint nowt else to do.
