Heineken Cup 2010/2011

Post by Richard »

With no interest in the heineken cup this year, I am looking towards next years pool groupings and especially the French sides. As the top six in France are Toulon, Racing Metro and Castres, Perpignan, Toulouse and Clermont and Biarritz could scrape in as no 7,which one are we likely to get based on points. Toulouse are the top points accumulator and we are unlikely to get them.

I believe that I am right when I say that we will still be in the top 5 ranked clubs and so are Toulouse so we cant get them but most of the others are possibles - the only other certainty is TIGERS V OSPREYS - hehehehe (joke)
Hehehehehehehehe

Top six ranked teams are currently:

Munster
Tigers
Leinster
Toulouse
Bath
Biarritz

Biarritz will drop 9 points from 2005-2006 but they are likely to get to the final this year.

If the top six stayed as it is now, Biarritz and Toulosue would not be in Tigers group.

I believe that the top six are the only seeded teams.

No group can have more than one team from the same country, except the country that have 7 teams qualified.

We will be top seeds in our group

I believe that as it stands the second tier team will be one of:
Clermont, Ospreys, Cardiff Blues

Depending on permuations of the winners of the Heineken, the Amlin and the top14 this could expand to:
Clermont, Ospreys, Cardiff Blues, Scarlets, Perpignan.

I believe, Scarlets and Stade have failed to qualify for next year

so Biarritz at the maximum could lose 3 points

Sorry, you are right about SF, I hadnt looked at the top14 table recently, however the Scarlets can still qualify if Cardiff win the Amlin Cup.

I calculate that Stade can still qualify if they win their last match (v Racing) by a bucket load & Biaritz get stuffed at home to Clermont and don't win Heineken and Brive lose to Toulon and fail to get bp.

Remi won't have given up hope! Though some of his recent posts suggests he has!

A possible second seed tier could be:

Cardiff, ASM Clermont, Saints, Ospreys, Bath and USAP

Given that we cannot draw Bath or Northampton, there is a decent chance of us drawing one of Ospreys or ASM.

Anyone fancy:
Leicester
Ospreys
Ulster
Toulon
