Bath to leave the Rec

Post by Cliffeclimber »

The Times has reported that Bath are planning to leave the Rec. In an article on 6th Jan they said:

"Bath are set to end years of uncertainty about their future by moving to a new £50 million stadium in the heart of the city, with a minimum capacity of 20,000.

The target would be to have it ready in time for the World Cup in England in 2015, a year that will also mark the club’s 150th anniversary."

This is a shame, as I'm sure that many of us have some happy - and not so happy - memories of games there. But it's a sign of the times and can only be a good thing for rugby.

On the other hand, it would be deliciously ironic if they were relegated and found it difficult to bounce back. They always did have an inflated opinion of themselves as a club.
