Tom Varndell off to a flyer for the insects

Post by Smudge »

Like many, I was appalled that Tom was allowed to leave.

While one swallow does not make a summer he has started in great style.
I fear he is going to come back to bite us, and it's our own fault.

This has already received mention

I am delighted for him, albeit that Pam's brother (despite being a Sarries supporter otherwise being a reasonable chap) reports that the rest of his game was :censored:.

Posted by captain_insaino on anither thread:

My opinion on tom v is that a change of club was required. His move to Wasps has given him a fresh chance and a change of mental state. I believe that if he had stayed at tigers then he would have probably played in the same inconsistent way, and his move to Wasps has 'revitalised' him. (Ala Adebayor to Man City for fellow fans of the roundyball).
So I would have loved to keep him, put as a capped player and by the way I think he would of played for us, I think he would have been a drain on the salary cap. It's just a shame he had to move to wasps

Just saw one of his tries on Sky midnight news - delayed pass 10m to go, and he got through, or carried with him 3 players over the line. Good try.

If Wasps had lost that game, Varndell would not be in anyones good books.

Dropped passes, albiet extremely poor ones, poor passing himself, bad tackling, poor positioning.

However, as a winger, his main job is to score tries and he did that. As I said to the Wasps fan sitting next to me, Varndell could well be Wasps top try scorer though also one of the most hated by the Wasps fans with the amount of tries he'll leak.

I, for one, will only begrudge tries he scores against Tigers!

He scored a similar one against Glasgow as well the other weekend. 4 tries in 2 games is a pretty good start...

Yes good in attack but still leaky in defence. A confidence and skills building thing I reckon. We'll hang on to him if that's OK. :smt002

This was always going to happen. Darc Tiger was quite right - he's gone, end of story.

So TV played poorly but scored two tries and was on the winning side.
What do we want people?
It annoys me even more that it was for the insects.
What's the betting he scores a hat-full against us?
Regrets, I have a few..................

But then again too few to mention
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

Smudge, there will still be people on here saying "oh yeah well but no but yeah but he didn't defend quite as well as Honky Van :censored: Roy".

The fact is, he's a cracking good match winner and we've hounded him out of this club for no good reason.
Kicks and scrums and ruck and roll.....Is all my brain and body need!
