Week 1 and no surprises?
Looking forward to the Rugby round up on ITV4 (8pm this week then 6:30 thereafter).
mixed bag of performances from what I heard and saw, no-one even close to looking like a stand-out side yet. But actually in terms of results, just about all going with 'home' advantage. (wasps are pretty 'at home' at twickenham.) Maybe the Saracens result was the biggest surprise. No winning BP scores so our 1 point looks good in this context.
Sale Sharks 15 - 12 Leicester Tigers
Saracens 18 - 14 London Irish
London Wasps 26 - 15 Harlequins
Northampton Saints 20 - 17 Worcester Warriors
Leeds Carnegie 9 - 9 Newcastle Falcons
Gloucester 24 - 5 Bath

Yep, they all went with the head!
Newcastle will be pleased with their result.

Re: Week 1 and no surprises?
No suprises at all and the 2 games shown this afternoon showed a rustiness everywhere. Good comeback by Saints!
Re: Week 1 and no surprises?
Leicester going close at Sale while Worcester will be frustrated at letting a 17-0 lead evaporate. Gloucester demolished Bath at Kingsholm with a MOTM performance from new Welsh fly half Nick Robinson. Leicester need to up the gears at The Stoop next weekend.

About Robinson - I thought Glaws looked so much more solid with him rather than Lamb; and did LI maybe look a bit flakier with Lamb?
Hmmmm.
Hmmmm.

Re: Week 1 and no surprises?
Yes...Robinson is solid and the Gloucester centre partnership looked dangerous and water-tight - no Anthony Allen ? Hmmm ! Once again, Glaws are very good when they get quick turnover ball...I expect them to fall short again though.

As ever the Premiership will be about staying power!

Re: Week 1 and no surprises?
I wouldn't call them shocks, but...
- I would have predicted the Irish to prevail over Saracens, but the men in black are going to be pretty dangerous this season.
- The Wasps Quins game was a 50/50 so no massive shock.
- I was very surprised at how competetive Worcester were. Saints weren't up to speed though.
- Gloucester were full value for money, although I was a bit disappointed at how limp Bath were for most of the game.
- Good points earned for Newcastle and Leeds.
- No surprises whatsoever that Tigers fell to Sale on a wet and windy Friday night in Stockport!

No surprises?
Tigers, Bath, LI, Quins, Leinster, Munster, Cardiff, Toulouse, Stade Francais and South Africa all lost!
I wonder when that last happened.

Re: Week 1 and no surprises?
Last season's top four all lost. Which would be a huge surprise were it not for the fact that in the GP, more or less anyone can beat anyone.
Tigers defeat was reported on the BBC and Sky as being a "major upset".
