Fixture download for Outlook - any techno's who can help?

Post by MPG »

Apologies if this has already been asked - had a look through a few pages but couldn't see anything.

Anyone (or even the Club) who can help with getting the fixtures as a download for Outlook calendar please (and others)?

I looked on Google - got a link to Wasps site where they can do it - surely we can - can't we?!?

Someone did do it last season, and (I think) the season before - but I can't locate the post or thread at present.

Thanks Magna Malc. For some reason the system at work today would not let me search the forum very easily.

gman does not seem to have posted since February this year though.

Thanks Rizzo and Magna Malc for your help so far.

Rizzo is there any techy at the club who could assist with this do you know? Sorry you must be asked loads of questions like this to find someone at the club! As I said in my original post, the search in Google identified the Wasps site as having an official download facility - I'm sure that we can as well.

Here you go guys,

Instructions as per gman
gman wrote:Last season I did this the long way and typed all the dates in as new appointments in my calendar. Thought I'd share a better way. ;o)

It is documented my Microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=161587 so you're not doing anything you're not supposed to.

Look for a file called outlook.txt or outlook.hol depending on your version of Outlook, it will be in Program Files\Microsoft Office. Mine was C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\1033 but you might need to do a search.

Open it with notepad or wordpad and paste the fixture list below into the list, you'll see all the public holidays of [Algeria] in there, I put it before them.

Go into outlook, tools, options, calendar options, add holidays, tick 'Tigers Fixtures' (and any others holidays you want), then OK.

You obviously do all this at your own risk, no comeback on me or the club - but it's fine, trust me I'm a programmer! :o?

Thanks Tigerben and Gman and everyone else - here goes - although I've probably got more chance of hacking into NASA or the State Department than this working with my track record of IT disasters!

Google calendar for fixtures

Post by nmw »

I've just uploaded a fixtures list to Google calendar for the 2009/10 season. I will be doing my best to keep this calendar up to date with the Tigers schedule from the 1st XV fixtures on this site.

To access the calendar from a browser you can go to this address:
http://tinyurl.com/tigers-fixtures-html

To subscribe to the ICS feed with a Calendar application try:
http://tinyurl.com/tigers-fixtures-ics

I've tested the ics feed in Sunbird (Mozilla calendar) and the Lightning plugin for Thuderbird. I've not tried it with Outlook because I only have Outlook 2003, which doesn't have ical support.

If you don't like tinyurl links then these are the full URIs, in all their glory, as generated by Google:

Thanks nmw! :smt023 :smt023

I was going to do this but hadn't got around to it (and I'm rubbish at keeping them updated!).

The links worked fine for me, although it was going back into Google Calendar.

For Notes 8.0
Download the .ics file from one of the posts above
Go into the calendar and click More and select manage imported calendars
Click import new calendar, change the file type to calendar file and navigate to the downloaded ics file.

Cheers for that tigerben, I was just about to do it and found you'd beaten me to it, saved me a Friday afternoon job.

It seems to work in our new Outlook 2007.

Not sure if it's been mentioned before, I needed to come out of outlook to save it.

Cheers
