Re: Tom Croft starts against the Golden Lions
There surely couldn't have been a better time for Tom to lay down a marker for the blindside jersey.
Ferris' calf injury let in Worsley on Saturday and Joe promptly damaged his claims to a starting Test berth.
A good display should see Croft as the only real challenger to Ferris for the six shirt, putting the pressure on the Irishman ahead of his likely first start at the weekend.
And Harry is surely going to be a shoe-in for the Test 22 after Blair ended his hopes of featuring in a big game with a pathetic display (admittedly not helped by his forwards) against the Royal XV.

Re: Tom Croft starts against the Golden Lions
I quite like the balance of the back row he is in. Wallace was out of position playing 8 and will be much more effective at 7. Heaslip will add the power and hopefully allow Crofty to get at them with his pace.
It must surely be the centre and half back partnerships that they were anticipating for the tests as well?
I'm confused...is this the dirt tracker team???

Just to wish Tom Croft all the best on his Lions debut and that this Lions team put in a much improved performance after a below par effort against the Royals XV last weekend.

Croft sure has potential, Ben, but I think the term 'legend' is jumping the gun somewhat...

Re: Tom Croft starts against the Golden Lions
This is probably a silly question but,
Can anyone enlighten me to exactly who the golden lions are, will they provide a bigger test than the royal 15? Are they anything to do with the Lions super 14 team?

They are one and the same.

Re: Tom Croft starts against the Golden Lions
Their a Currie Cup team closely linked to the super 14 team, just with a smaller provincial catchment. They will be alot tougher what the royal 15, espically with the end of the super 14 and the start of the currie cup, these guys are halfway through their seasonTimbo15 wrote:This is probably a silly question but,

Good luck Tom Croft for tonight's game. I bet he is nervous, I definitely am nervous for him. Hope he has a stand-out game and nails a test starting berth.
Actually I think that apart from O'Connell and probably Byrne after his performance on Saturday, I think all places are up for grabs.

39-10 to Lions at half time, cracking try by Croft. Hope to see Harry given a decent amount of game time in the second half.

Well done Tom show them what they have been missing.
We will succeed, we cannot fail the only obstacle is doubt...
