Re: Michalek to Join Tigers
First thing - I've got this weeks copy of Rugby Times and i can'f find this suggestion anywhere in it?
Second thing - the contract he signed with Toulouse was, I believe, for 2 years.
Third thing - we only need a decent fly half to cover if we decide to sign one, Michalak would be a mega-bucks signing and as a scrum half is an odd suggestion - i know he can play there, but someone so expensive in their second position? I'd sooner have Rory Kockott if we were to sign the "world class" option ahead of the "aging journyman" option in replacing Dupuy - especially as he's just been left out of the Bok squad despite an awesome season.

Well if Hougaard or Dupuy (Both?) have to leave then I wouldnt say no as he can cover both and his an older head for the young SH's and FH's to learn from. Magician when on form.
Surely the money left from Hougaards wages or Dupuys transfer fee would cover him for a while?
Only to be signed if Houggie/Dupuy leave. But would be a good replacement methinks.

mmm... A bit sceptical over this one. He would be a good signing but would he be worth the impact on the salary cap and how consistent would his form be. I would like to see Tigers sign an experienced scrum half as I feel that Youngs is not quite ready to step up yet, however give him maybe 1 or 2 more years and he will be ready.

Doubt he'll leave Toulouse. And if he does, He'll probably head to Leinster as they need to replace Felipe Contepomi.

I reckon this will be another case of a player saying that tigers are interested to boost a better offer from the club he's with or from one he wants to go to.

Just my opinion, nothing official you understand but i felt that Serge Betsen did it a few seasons ago and got a better offer from Biarittz, Carlos Spencer prior to Saints move and JMH at Stade.
We get linked to alot of players that never seem to materialise.
Ps I'm not saying we needed any of the above etc but felt it may of happened.

I always felt the Hernandez saga was a lot to do with him wanting a better offer from Stade too

True about Betsen I had forgotten about him. He does seem to have struggled a bit this season at Wasps, IMO, so maybe it was for the better that he didn't move here because lets face it, now and then, we have great, superb back row players.

Re: Michalek to Join Tigers
How has Michalak been doing much in Tolouse? Isn't he the backup to Skrela there so he might think he has a better chance of first team rugby here with only Flood or Ellis to oust from the team (depending on which position he wishes to play). We would need to sell both Dupuy and Hougaard in order to afford him though.

Again, a fellow cynic's POV. I can't find anything about it in the Rugby Times, and I can't find mention of it elsewhere, as suspected possibly an agents agenda to engineer his client a better deal elsewhere

Re: Michalek to Join Tigers
Maybe he's seen Dupuy get into the French squad playing for Tigers, and he fancies following in his footsteps.
Would be a risky punt from Tigers though.
