May 1, 2009
OLIVIER AZAM of Gloucester Rugby will re-appear before a Rugby Football Union Disciplinary Panel following a review of his dismissed citing.
The case against the hooker for allegedly making contact with the eyes or eye area of Cardiff Blues' Jamie Roberts was dismissed by a panel on Monday because the citing was officially submitted too late following the EDF Energy Cup Final on April 18.
The RFU Disciplinary Officer, His Honour Judge Jeff Blackett, has reviewed the matter and Azam has been summoned to attend a new hearing at the Coventry Holiday Inn on Thursday May 7 (7.30pm).
He has been charged with conduct prejudicial to the interests to the Union and/or the Game contrary to Rule 5.12 in that he allegedly made contact with the eyes or eye area of Roberts.
The panel will comprise Antony Davies (Chairman), John Brennan and Bob Taylor.
