From a Welshman congratulations Ireland
To quote Ray Gravell - You've got to get your first tackle in early, even if it's late.

Well played Ireland! Deserved slam in a comp where nobody really stood out.

Plus England 2nd!

"World beaters" Wales down in 4th! :smt005

Ah yes... There is that. :smt002

But we scored more tries! Not bad for boring England beating Wales' star studded backline.

Not wanting to turn this thread into a England vs wales mess...

Nice to see Murph getting his moment at the end! Now bring him home where he can be put to some use!

After the first few minutes, we thought it was going to be a bit of a boring game.....

how wrong can you be? Those last few minutes were edge of the seat stuff! Well done Ireland, well played Wales.

And didn't you love the shots of Keith Wood in the commentary box right at the end? :smt003

Heart attack time today in those last few minutes as Ireland nearly blew it. Big congratulations to them. As Austin Healey said at the end, it would have been unfair if this generation of Ireland players hadn't won the slam. A perfect day of rugby - England won, Ireland won the Grand Slam and Leicester put Saracens to the sword and sit on top of the table tonight. It doesn't get any better (well, I suppose West Ham could have completed my weekend by winning but I'm used to pain from that quarter!)

Not only England above Wales!
Steve Jones did all that he could.
Two tries to nil, well deserved by the Irish. Brian O'Driscoll manages to lead by just doing it. Even when as he said last week parts of the game were "hasey"!
Great result.

Congratulations also to a certain Geordan Murphy who was part of that Grand Slam winning Ireland team today. Well done Geordan and well done Ireland.

Roll on next year - I suspect the slumbering giants may have just begun to open both eyes & the last few years' may well be the pinnacle of the red & green success as the blues & the whites have perhaps begun to understand that merely having the best players does not make a team.

Well done Ireland but I thought Wales had to win by 12 to secure the championship, was this not the case then?

If that last kick had gone over, I'd have had to go into hiding. Thank you Mr Jones. You're a gent.

As it is, I'm ecshtatic. Hic. :smt030
