Run out music

Post by Cliffeclimber »

First off, I must say that I'm a traditionalist and I love Smoke On The Water, but with all the talk of a new era, etc. etc. it got me thinking that maybe we ought to adopt a new tune for the players' entry onto the pitch. Any suggestions?

Perhaps: Fanfare for the Common Man.

Given the change in the Laws that are being forced upon us this season, maybe something by ELVs Presley is more appropriate?

The version of FftCM you would want would be the original version by Aaron Copland (20th Century Classical, not "rock" or "pop"!)

However some may possibly be drawn to the 1977 Emerson, Lake & Palmer version.

I think I would prefer Orff's 'O Fortuna', epic stuff.

:smt003 Perhaps Robbie's Let Me Entertain You is even more appropriate now given last season and looking forward to next season, after all it does start...

Further thought and a quick search for the word TIGER on everyhit.com brings up this list.

Lulu - I'm A Tiger Nov 1968
Mud - Tiger Feet Jan 1974
Survivor - Eye Of The Tiger Jul 1982
Pink Floyd - When The Tigers Broke Free Aug 1982
Frank Bruno - Eye Of The Tiger Dec 1995
Boo Radleys - Ride The Tiger Feb 1997
Urusei Yatsura - Hello Tiger Feb 1998

The only ones I recall are Survivor and Mud, I've always been a little mysified why we don't use 'Eye of the Tiger' and I'm very sure we should give Frank Bruno's version a very wide berth!

A little more hunting found the videos for most of the songs on You Tube. Couldn't find Frank Bruno's Eye of the Tiger (A Blessing!)

Urusei Yatsura - Hello Tiger Feb 1998

I would say It's between MUD, SURVIVOR and Urusei Yatsura on this evidence.

with the way the squad is going something totally foreign and completely unrelated to the club should suit.
