Final

Post by hooking_king »

That was awful. There are a number of players on that Twickenham pitch today who let themselves down. I hope the players read these posts because you need to take the summer off and think about the lack of commitment in the first half.

I am sure I am not the only Tigers fan who is seriously fed up of losing finals a Twickenham. It is not Marcelos fault and if the club are honestly thinking about sacking him they are mad.

This is not the Tigers way - I am not a fan who normally gets on the backs of the team, but I am fed up of, what should be the best club in Europe by a long way, losing!

Although it was awful to watch i dont think that i would point the finger at commitment straight away... Tigers faced a very good wasps team today who did the little things better throughout the game

Tigers showed the commitment they have by the comeback they threatened... which was shame it couldnt see a similar end result as in the semi-final...

Any leicester team we put out today would have struggled to beat a wasps team that played as dynamic and ruthless as the one we saw today, in the first half at least...

Let's not forget that we came 4th in the league portion of the competition, and had all sorts of off field problems. Let's not forget that we did really well to even get to the final.

I think it was an improvement from last year's HC final.
In that game, we never looked like coming back but we did this time. To be fair we were very very unlucky with a lot of 50-50 balls. When Van Gisenberg hit the post the kick went through but Goode did, it didn't.
Look at the positives: Harry Ellis had a cracking game, Jordan Crane put up a good fight against the wasps back roll (Ok, Hskell and Rees were quite a pari). Varndell should play more. Mauger deserves a lot better from us really.

I'd say we miss Moody. He's been the form 7 for England from the World Cup right until he got injured against wales (lost count how many times wales was turned over when he was playing)

If Tobby Flood really is coming then we should have some alternatives.

Don't sack Marcelo please please for heaven's sake.

Not even turning up would have been an improvement on last years HC final!

You may well be fed up after another lost final, but nowhere near as fed up as Glaws fans, or Sale fans, they don't see anywhere near of much of the Twickers days out as we do, yes it would be great if we won more, but at least we're there and we appear to be regaining some serious 'attitude' and :censored: mindedness which has been lacking for a number of years.

There are more positives than negatives at the end of this season, certainly considering what's gone on this season.

Lets just hope that during the off season, the top brass sort out the niggles and lets really get back to where we should be, colecting silverware & titles

That sums it up "we did well to get to the final". Where has the winning mentality gone from Leicester. We dont do well to get to finals - Tigers do well to win all three trophies in one season.

I think there is something seriously wrong if we do well to get to finals!

We may not have won any silverwear, but i am still seriously proud to be a tigers supporter. To be honest i have never seen a defence as quick or as good as wasps ever before.

My only one wish for the match is that we had used varndell more and got goode to chip over the top for him.

Right, it has just been said above that "Tigers do well to win all three trophies in one season"

Just thought i'd point out that they have never managed that. So, by this absurd logic, they have NEVER had a good season! How amusing.

They showed courage and that's all that they could do against an amazing Wasps outfit. No complaints from me.

The winning mentality is overcoming the odds to getting to the final.

The winning mentality is overcoming the odds to getting to the playoffs.

The winning mentality is a decent fightback in the second half when we looked down and out.

No one has ever done the treble.

I don't think it was a very good performance from the tigers today...apart from a few good individual performances(like Ellis, Tuilagi and Varndell) I think the team as a whole lacked commitment, especially in the breakdown, where they kept loosing ball after ball...
Of course they played against a very strong and organised team today, but still their performance didn't impress me enough :smt018

Never thought I'd say this but I'm sick of hearing Corry in these losing finals:

I can't live with the smugness of Lewsey

Where it went wrong.

we was :censored: in the 1st half

Someones kicking was bad.

The tackling was poor.

The pack was way way way to slow to the break down.

The lack of support for the runners.

Are man of the match prob Harry.

Wasps out played us once again in a big game. :smt010

Where do we go now ?

Sack Marcelo ~ Who will we bring in, dont think this is the answer.

We need to get another top class Fly half.

Two or three big name players and we will be back.

Littl things

Post by smalldell »

A lot of little things went against us today:-

When TV kept the ball in towards half time Wasps scored a try.

Kicks that were nearly caught by the likes of Erinle etc.

Losing Hipkiss early on meant there was no one to run off Mauger (who was back to his best today - I think the imminent arrival of Flood has woken him up and he is fit)

Even GM could not catch the restarts..

But thats Rugby

Not quick enough or ruthless IMO-they reacted quicker and where quicker. COmmitment was lacking, just ability. The whole side was two slow and we didn't use our two biggest weapons. We need to sort out the props (too slow) but other than tht we'll be okay.
