Nicknames

Post by Tyler »

To lift the doldrums after the past few games I thought a little distraction maybe needed,so find below nicknames for players in the current tigers squad. :smt077

1.Castro! Martin Castrogiovanni

2.Scrappy doo! Harry Ellis earned for his penchant to fall out with forwards to the great delight of the shed.

3.Rambo.Seru Rabeni for his love of the physical part of the game

4.Forrest Gump.Tom Varndell because he can run like the wind-when he gets the ball the crumbie howls run Forrest run! :axe:

5.Cozza. Martin Corry

6.Smurf. Geordan Murphy

7.Posh spice.Andy Goode due to his rapid weight loss over the summer of 2007.

Anybody else out there got anymore?

Madeye - pretty much sums Lewis up, really.

Whopper, aka Big Ben - That's the large BK.

Jimbo, not Jumbo, but you get the picture. Aka Big Jim, for obvious reasons.

Fidel (Castro): Castrogiovani

Crowbar: Hipkiss (because of how difficult it is to get the ball off him)

Oogie: Erinle

Big Mac: Jim Hamilton (because he's "Scottish" and because he partners Whopper at lock)

Muffin: Mefin Davies

I called Brett "Louis" a while back as my daughter was getting an autograph. He didn't look impressed!

I wouldn't worry about it Rizzo - I have it on good authority the players do that too! Maybe he is tiring of the joke!

When I say good authority, I mean I went to school with Louis, and met him and several other players [Hazza, Michael Holford, Brett, , Alex Tuilagi, Goodey I think... possibly others - too drunk to remember!] in a pub in Clermont Auvergne a few years back after the game. I also remember Harry Ellis daring me to down a beer he bought, so I did. He went for double or quits. He lost again. Hence the fuzzy memories. I think Mike H started calling me 'Reg' cos he didn't know my name... anyway, good times :smt023

Anyway, back to the subject: I have always called Jim Hamilton Wee Jimmy since his Scotland call up, and I think Boris is quite widely known [by fans] as Stinky B!tch...

Wiggy is a quality nickname. My mate refuses to call our incumbent No 10 as anything other than Andy Foode.

Ben Kay is called Me Laird as in My Lord because o his dad being a judge.

Ben used to have that nickname but his father, Lord Justice Kay, passed away a few years ago. No longer an appropriate nickname.

0n the other side of justice - It was amusing to note that a few years when Ricky Nebbit arrived - the players called him "Godber" as he had just come from spend some time at Her Majesty's pleasure (doing some porridge).

Yes, Ricky's nickname of Godber was a popular one as I recall!

Other nicknames of former players include "Log" for Dave Lougheed, "Tugboat" for Rod Kafer, "Baron" for Garforth & "Bambi" for Nnamde Ezulike.

I must admit I dislike that particular nickname, but the general rule on here is that derogatory, abusive, insulting or rude nicknames will be removed if people post them.

I have nicknames used by family and friends etc, but I would be thoroughly annoyed at complete strangers using them! And let's remember, we ARE strangers to the players (or 99% of us are), even though we may feel we know them personally.
