Wasps 25 - Clermont Auvergne 24 & Incident

Post by Tigersfan90 »

What a match! Both teams played brilliantly, wasps came away with the win without a bonus point and Clermont left snatching a losing bonus point with a try in the final seconds of extra time.

There was a bad incident with a man in the crowd hitting a wasp’s player from the barrier at the side of the pitch (it looked like a wasps fan too). What did anyone else think?

He was obviously a Tigers fan disguised as a Wasps fan...Why else would of hit a Wasps player :smt002

Seriously though, the guy lost it big time. Even went at it a 2nd time. I'm sure Wasps will ban him from the ground forever.

"We can assure you 99.9% of the wasp’s fans never act like this" so perhaps it was a Tigers fan in disguise!

The player who got a sin bin should have got a red card. It was a violent act. The Referees was a wimp.

According to Sky interactive - the fan was Alan Black, a former Wasps captain and current RFU employee
- and he was trying to hit a CA programme
I bet he will have fun at work on Monday!

Blimey. That's one War and Peace-sized book about to be thrown with extreme force.

From the Beeb:

"Wasps captain Lawrence Dallaglio said: "Let's get it into perspective. A guy throws six punches and gets yellow-carded whereas another guy hits someone with a programme.

"The incident has to be taken in the context of what happened previously - a guy had thrown a load of punches."

Wasps head coach Shaun Edwards said he had some sympathy for Black.

"It's not a lifetime ban. The man felt threatened at the time - a guy had just come flying through and thrown six punches," he said.

"A civilian of 60-odd years of age would automatically feel threatened. In the end it's a programme." "

I think they're wrong, particularly Edwards: leaving aside the fact that the fighting was on the field between players, hardly a Cantona job, the premise is that you're feeling threatened, so naturally you go after the guy with a programme.

Riiiggghhhttt..... :smt017
