THE BIG DEBATE

Post by big john »

So after today we now have some good talking points, these 4 below kind of all fit in one main subject. Tigers squad next season.

1: Is the wage cap higher for next season??
2: Will Steve Black be a TIGER very soon
3: As Simon Cohen is big for Wilko too will he be a TIGER next season??
4: With the talk about JMH and now maybe Wilko tipped for Welford road if the cap is not rasied who do we think tiger will lose to "hanging up the boots" and who could we see being off loaded to make the way and what if any do we need to replace??

For me the following could be going:-

Scott Bemand (as good as gone)
Paul Burke (maybe pack up)
Ian Humphreys (not really cutting it)
Christophe Laussucq (only a short term guy)
Martin Corry (think he will hang them up)
Mefin Davies (maybe pack up)
Ben Kay (maybe pack up)
Alejandro Moreno (maybe pack up)
Julian White (think he will hang them up)

I dont think we need to replace that many with youth side bring good players. With Wilko maybe just a good prop to add.

Cozza and Kay to go I don't think so. I could maybe understand if corry did but not Ben he is only 32 for goodness sake he has got 2 more years in him at least. and a possible captain.

Moreneo - Yes
Burke - Yes
White - Sadly yes
Hickie will probably go
Davies - Yes
Corry - Depends on his contract (Que Dave Angel)
Lassucq - Yes
Bemand - As good as gone sadly

I do agree on Kay i just put him as a MAYBE as we do have alot of 2nd row cover in the squad.

Muffin is on a 3 year deal so he won't be packing up at the end of the season.

I wasnt sure about the Big Hairy Muffin but i guess a good squad guy for when we need him, dont really see him as a first or second choice big game hooker.

By "The Big Hairy Muffin" i presume you mean Mefin Davies. Has he really signed a 3 year deal I thought that it was just one.

Yes, "Muffin" = Mefin.

I 've just checked my contract notes and seen that Muffin has signed a 2 year deal with Tigers, not 3 years.

1. The salary cap will be higher next season.

2. Pat Howard told me last year that Jonny had given Tigers "first shout" if he decided to leave Falcons.

3. Lolfreda "undecided" as yet.

4. There is more to Black's move than meets the eye.

Very interesting stuff. I could see JMH being happy at Stade now that he's getting games at 10. I think either would be excellent signings. Will Jonny leave the Falcons? I guess its possible with Blackie gone and Rob Andrew with the RFU. Also, it might be good for him mentally to start afresh and draw a line under his injuries. I'd love to see what ML could bring out of him.. and with the backline that we have it could be just the spark we need.

However, I have the feeling that this is all just wishful thinking. Plus, we'd still need another cracking 10 to cover when he's with England, and because (with the best will in the world) Jonny is not Martin Corry. You can't expect him to play 30 games a season and keep in one piece.

I sincerely hope Blackie is not coming to Tigers, his record with Jonny is hardly a ringing endorsement
