You have missed Corry off there who deserves the 6 slot, he's been immense.

Rather (mildly) interestingly, of the team I wrote down before the tournament began, only 3 people have kept their position in this team (including a positional change). My team of the tournament includes 5 Argentineans, 4 South Africans, 3 Englishmen, 1 Fijian, 1 Australian and 1 Sore Loser. France were unlucky not to have representation, but were I to include a subs bench, would be guaranteed at least 2 spots if not 3.

Without further ado, I give you Mr J L G West’s Official Team of the tournament:

1 Andrew Sheridan (Eng)
2 Mario Ledesma (Arg)
3 Rodrigo Roncero (Arg)
4 Simon Shaw (Eng)
5 Victor Matfield (SA)
6 Juan Smith (SA)
7 Juan Martín Fernandez Lobbe (Arg)
8 Gonzalo Longo (Arg)
9 Fourie Du Preez (SA)
10 Juan Martín Hernández (Arg)
11 Bryan Habana (SA)
12 Luke McAllister (NZ)
13 Stirling Mortlock (Aus)
14 Vilimoni Delasau (Fij)
15 Jason Robinson (Eng)

I realise I have picked 2 opensides in the back row, but both can play 6 and I just went with the 3 best performing back row forwards. Longo’s performances in the latter stage were sensational, and that Argentinean back row that caused such havoc had to have the most representation. Qera (Fij) was unlucky to miss out. As was the colossal man mountain Sebastian Chabal.

At half back there was no real options but to go with Du Preez and JMH, both have been sensational all tournament. The wings picked themselves too. Habana has been his devastating best and Delasau lit up the tournament with his electric running. The selection of Luke McAllister may raise eyebrows, especially after his Cardiff meltdown, but over the course of the tournament (the bit the All Blacks played in) McAllister proved the most creative, composed and quality centre, whilst the Evil Wizard Sterling Mortlock again shone with his individual performances and his ability to drag other along with him. Jason Robinson at full back have proved England’s rock at the back since he was put there; solid under the high ball, cutting going forward. Percy Montgomery pushed him close and if this were a real team would possibly get the nod for his goal kicking, but Robinson has shown his world class one final time and deserves his spot.

I possibly gave this more thought than it warrented...

Roncero has been at loosehead for Argentina.

Scelzo has been the tighthead, to be replaced late on by Hasan.
