Your Predictions for the Quarters
What are your predictions for the Quarters?
Mine:
England vs Australia.
Australia to win by 10-20 points. I think England will do better then against SA, but will still find the Aussies have too much power, speed and all-round confidence for them. I can't see much chance of England winning, particularly with some of the strange selections by Ashton. I may be proved wrong if DH is starting, but there seems little chance of that.
France vs New Zealand.
Tough one to call. Depends on which France turn up and whether NZ are allowed to play their natural game of quick ball from forwards to backs or to power over with the forwards, and whether France can use the likes of Chabal to frustrate the ABs, and can use the speed of their backs.
On form, it probably ought to be NZ, but you never know. NZ have yet to be tested in this World Cup and they have the odd injury concern.
NZ to win by 10-15 points if they get their game right.
c South Africa vs Fiji
Fiji with their best line-up could give SA a tough game, but with Nicky Little out, I can see only one winner. SA look pretty impressive both in their forwards and backs, and if it clicks for them, I see them winning by around 20 points.
d Argentina vs Scotland
If Scotland at their best and most stubborn turn up then they could cause problems for Argentina, but otherwise, I see Argentina with their forward power, if they use their pacy backs and if JMH is at his best, then Argentina by 10-20 points.

Unfortunately I won't see it. But I predict a very close game between Aus and England.
Best of luck tomorrow lads!

I think "to nill vb" means to win with the opposing side scoring no points.Goffer3404 wrote:"Nilled" verb meaning to be embarrassingly beaten by opposition who have out-thought the team's coach. Leads to criticism of players when they have done their best.
Contains no implications as to the players or coaches abilities.

Starburst - you and I had the same predictions for the qtrs and have our first two games correct. Well done the boys and no tears for arrogant All Blacks.Starburst wrote:England to beat Oz.
NZ to beat france
SA to beat Fiji
Argentina to beat Scotland.
Though I'd like to see Scotland and Fiji go through I can't see either team making it. Though if Scotland play the game of their lives and Argentina have an off day who knows.
