Tongan Haka

Post by banbury tiger »

Did anyone else think the tongan haka last night was abit other the top. Fair enough it needs to be intimidating but at one point they were basically touching the england players! The haka needs to be scary i know but i think it was excessive last night.

You mean they could have taken a step backwards? Consider what that means, when someone takes a step backwards, its showing the Tongan's that England are scared, and I'm glad they didn't do that.

I thought England were standing alot closer than teams facing a haka normally would, but by god was it great to watch. :smt003

I thought it was a great spectacle, very intense
Donncha O'Callaghan and Bruce Reihana are the best players that ever lived. Don't even bother to argue with me.

And - however good Imanol Harinordoquy is, he is still an idiot

Am I alone in thinking that Hakas are a pain?
I think they look daft and see no reason why the opposing team should obey any 'code' of behaviour during these silly dances.

I love to see it, especially when the opposition front up like England did, and the English fans don't take it lying down either! :smt002

I love the hakas and I think that they should stay because they are a great tradition. I think that when they go on people should respect them and not boo but they are entitled to sing like the England fans did.

I thought that the English players were great they stood there and showed no emotion and it would have been awful if they had taken a step becak it was Tongas way of trying to scare England and it didn't work.

The tongan team are not allowed to cross the halfway line when performing the haka, the england team CHOSE to stand there, you can sand anywhere in your own half, every haka is performed on the hlafway line it's the teams that usually stand further back, do not blame the Tongans for that
