What do you think of Tigers new Badge?

Post by simon redshaw »

Sorry if this has already come up, but was wondering what you all thought of Tigers' new badge which is now shown on the site. The Tigers head on a green and red shield.

Reminds me of Stade Francais for some reason?

I am a long time believer that the best thing we could have is the old shield. I have no problem with them using the tigers head for merchandising and such like, but i would prefer to see the old badge still in use on the club shirts.

Welcome back Elliot! :D :D

Westy, I hadn't thought of it looking like the Stade Francais one but come to think of it you are right! I think it is good although I actually prefer the Tigers Head Logo even over the old badge.

It's very well done but I agree that the old shield shouldn't just be abandoned.

There must be room for both....The Tiger head motif is the most tatooable rugby badge I've come across. Almost as good as Everton's

Everton is the dominant species. I am Everton

I've always thought there was room for both. Keep that classic badge for the shirts and such like, and use the logo for merchanise.

Still not sure about this new one either, irrespective of what it is used for.

The club can't use the old crest on shirts etc as it's not copyrightable.

Therefore, there would be nothing to stop anyone else producing their own "Tigers" shirts with the same colours & logo, thus costing the club a fortune in lost revenue.

Thanks Dave, I did not know that. Out of curiosity, do you why it isn't copyright-able? I'm don't know copyright law I'm afraid.

I love that word 'copyrightable'. I checked to see if it was an actual word, & lo & behold it is. I will have to find a way of dropping it into my conversation today. Anyway, Munster had the same copyright situation with the old badge being the Munster Province Crest, hence the new badge with the deers head on it.

Look at the section on the Tiger Site home page which shows our next fixture. You will see a new badge for Tigers with the Tigers head on mostly green and some red. The new badge is also being used on the flyers for fixtures and will be used on other communication soon.
