Agreed Iain,

My only other comment would be on how the Italian went down. Would ANY rugby player have collapsed in such a way?

Yet again I am not going to cast the first stone at Zidane.

If someone tried to goad me by insulting, say, one of my daughters I would deck them instantly. I just know I would.

What? Are you mental? He took a running head-butted to the sternum. It's alarmingly easy to kill someone by smashing them in the solar plexus.

i think that is bizarre. after such a good career, do you really want people to remember you for getting sent off in the world cup final?
Donncha O'Callaghan and Bruce Reihana are the best players that ever lived. Don't even bother to argue with me.

And - however good Imanol Harinordoquy is, he is still an idiot

That's so typical of a man!!!!!! What happened to "sticks and stones may break my bones" . Your oponent has got exactly the reaction he wants if you hit out just from being insulted. If you are physically hit first, then that's a different matter, a bit of self preservation comes into play then.

I like the decking people thing though. It so much less involved than a girly sulk thing. Job done. Move on. Not of course that I condone physical violence in any way or practice it myself....blah blah

I went into B&Q the other day and was innocently looking round the gardening & patio section when one of the staff members came up to me and asked if I wanted decking.

:o :o :o

Well my generation was brought up on good clean heroes like The Saint, Danger Man, and James Bond.

They sorted things out by giving the bad guy a good crisp punch on the jaw which left the victim regretting the day he ever crossed our hero.

Of course, the bad guys fought dirty with chairs, knives, guns, and anything else that came to hand. All to no avail as our man would disarm them easily and then deliver the clean punch.

Now when all these modern day bed-wetting, lily livered liberal types tell us not to use violence, well quite frankly, it confuses a chap.

Ah, but there was always that baddie, like Jaws, who would just take the punch with nothing more than a contemptuous sneer.

Then it was gadget time!
