Salesmen (Iain), clerks and whoever having a go after the event. Typical!

I had a lifetime of taking from those who haven't a clue what it's like to be at the sharp end with a gun in your hand and an instant decision to make.

Thousands of well executed operations happen each year without comment. Get it wrong and the flows.

I just ask you all to look at what you do for a living and think about the mistakes you make. Hardly life changing most of the time I'll wager.
Well said here, and on your other posts. The World is full of people who do sweet f.a except sell a few biros over a counter somewhere and then see fit to comment on people doing a really hard job at the sharp end.

I often make a point of not digressing a lot about my personal life, but in my defence I have just left a job as I felt I wasn't making a jot of difference to anyones life and decided to train for a profession where I will be making a crucial difference to their life. I have nothing but admiration for professions that change peoples lives, indeed pretty much any public sector job. I have a hell of a lot of respect for the Police as a force. But in this instance I find it very hard to get past the point that I keep making. Menezes was an innocent man who got shot and killed?

Sorry I just find it difficult to accept that there is ever a viable explanation to that. Maybe its that I AM a personal individual that this DOES bother me.

Here's some news on the Menezes case.

No police officers will be charged over the fatal shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes at a Tube station

But the Met Police will be charged with breaching health and safety laws.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission had asked the CPS, which has yet to make a formal statement, to consider the cases against three officers.
Any comments?

Apparently the difficulty for the CPS was that to press a murder charge, they would have to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the offices who fired the shots knew that they were killing the wrong man.

However, the "opponents" of this decision feel that there could still have been some sort of manslaughter or unlawful killing.

There is a apparently some political will to protect armed police from prosecution where possible, otherwise armed response is going to be impossible.

I.e. would you go out armed with a gun and would you fire it when requested to by a superior officer if you thought you might end up with life imprisonment?

I think I'd prefer to investigate fraud in a cosy office somewhere.

All i can say is it is justice to the Police offivers and the police force in genral, they do a fantastic job and this would have been an attrosity if they'd have been charged, and it would have probably caused more trouble than it was worth, armed police have dropped there arms and walked out in the past in protest if i'm correct.

I think to simply put it, the CPS have ooked at the case and have realised there is no justice in charging the police on trumped up charges they did there job and did nothing, absolutlty nothing wrong to charge them would be an attrosity. It was the only decision that could have come out of it and it was the right decision.
great service....great idea (cheers Mr Branson)

I am sorry, Truly sorry for John Charles.

If it were my wife or family member I would be devastated.

This case is so sad but does anyone truly believe that the shots were fired with nasty intent?

The investigations are horrific and the stigma sticks.

When this happened I said to my friends,"right or wrong this will run for years".

I would not go back to the police for a million quid a week.

Lets put all these hindsight experts at the sharp end for a month and say, 'OK smartarse, sort that out'.

Most, I suspect would need clean underwear.
