Well after Orla's description of Ireland I think I'll give Telford and Birmingham a miss and move there.
Until recently my missus worked as a groom on a stud farm and breeding Connemara ponies was a big part of her job. Maybe we could set up a business importing them? :D

I know that feeling hon. I have three jobs on the go at the moment, whilst trying to run my car and live etc. I absolutely love the people I work with to bits and have been here just over two years but feel I may have to get a new job asap.DCat wrote:yeah, know what you mean.
The cheap/free thing must give a certain amount of satisfaction, though, mustn't it? I know that it would be nice to do something ludicrously expensive every now and then, like buying a Tigers season ticket
I really struggle with money at times. I occasionally buy something I want but nothing too extravagant. I wonder if life gets easier or harder as you get older. :(

You gotta fight for your right to .... PARTY!
You can entertain yourself more cheaply when you get older.
You can play games like:
"What did I come up stairs for?"
"Do I still fancy Carol Vordeman / Des Lynam?"
"Which is my Mondeo?"
"I'm turning right in 20 miles, so when shall I move into the outside lane?"
"Let's not go town shopping until Saturday."
Post Office queue clogging.
List my ailments.
"Remember when all this was fields."

Ha ha Kinny. Thanks for that, you put a smile on my face today.
I'm not getting old yet, I've decided. Was at a the national Forest Folk Festival all weekend and the Levellers played on Friday night and I rocked!!!!!!
Mind you, the rest of the weekend was at a much more mundane pace. I even went to sleep in the sun at one point.

I love the Levellers and having had a totally poo weekend am going to find their 'hits' album on the way home and damage the speakers in my car. (It'll give the speakers a nice rest from Rancid's Timebomb - stunning track for the record).
SPIKE

I prefer Rolf Harris & "Stairway to heaven" for some real stupidness. :shock:Kinoulton wrote:Well I think to REALLY let off steam, you can't beat Delaney's Donkey by Val Doonican.

Thanks Spike. Sorry to hear you had a poo weekend though. Did you play the Levellers loud in your car? I have "Zeitgeist" in at the moment and can play "Julie" now on my guitar.SPIKE@srufc wrote:Age is a state of mind. Glad you had a wonderful weekend ARC.Ashby Rock Chick wrote:Ha ha Kinny. Ah, there's no feeling of freedom quite like zipping down the M69 in an Audi A4, on your way to an office job, with Morningtown Ride by the Seekers blaring out of your speakers.
Rock on.
After that, a few of the heavier Nolans tracks.

Sounds like heaven!
Not so sure about the Nolans. In the Mood for Dancing was good though. Maybe you can convert me. I think they are nice Irish ladies all the same. :D :D
Maybe I would prefer the Seekers more.
I don't know your area very well but was interested to hear about all the developments on the A46 etc!!

In the somewhat coy period that followed the hedonism of the 60's, The Nolans were what passed for crumpet!
Somewhat tame by today's standards with the Pussycat Dolls an' all.
The Seekers were a twee band fronted by a lady called Judith Durham who was easy on the eye in a "girl next door" kind of way.
