Read vs Jones

Post by WharfedaleTiger »

Who would you pick, Read whoi can keep and has recently learnt how to bat or Jones who can't keep but ius in the England Squad thanks to his batting 'ability'. Which seems to have disappeared over the last year...

Although I would like Geraint Jones playing for England as I live in Kent. Its got to be Chris Read between the two now as his all-round game is better. There is another wicketkeeper in Matt Prior who isn't bad.

That's o.k. Orla no probs!! Maybe some of us can teach you a bit about it. There's some of us on here that very keen on it! The best matches to go to are the one-day matches as that's where the most action is. Four day matches or Test matches can be boring although not when a chap called Mattiah Muralitharan plays!! Have you heard of Freddie or Kevin Pietersen?

There's a match in Belfast soon - Ireland against England.

Sorry to go on about that crazy sport!!

GJ hasn't made any sort of runs recently, so i think in the next series we should give read a go and see what happens. i just think Jones needs to be jolted out of his comfort zone.
Donncha O'Callaghan and Bruce Reihana are the best players that ever lived. Don't even bother to argue with me.

And - however good Imanol Harinordoquy is, he is still an idiot

Guilty of a Sussex bias, but Matt Prior should be given a go in the test side. He could easily bat at seven and would hardly struggle to make more runs than Jones at the moment.

Fletcher seems very keen on a core group of players which includes Jones. Hard to see him being dropped, but I think a few players need shaking up after failing to beat Sri Lanka.

Come on Wharf thats a bit harsh Jones can keep and he's pretty good, but at the monet i would try Reed, not because Jones is bad, but hes not done anything that shouts out "KEEP ME IN THE TEAM" where as trying Reed, what are you going to lose, he cna keep and if hes not as good well you can bring Jones back, but we need to find the best players for the Ashes.
great service....great idea (cheers Mr Branson)

I think they should have let Reed have a go in the recent tests just so that it could be seen how he would handle it. The selectors have a fair idea wt Jones can do and therefore it would give them the chance to see who would be the best to take down under.

Dear Orla,

Cricket is simple.

You are in a pavilion but come out to go in when somone is out. You then stay in until you are out then someone else comes in until they are out. When your team is out the other team goes in and your team tries to get the team that are in out. The team that got more when in and got the other team out for less wins.

See, it's obvious!!

Yes but Tibetan monks have studied cricket and see the more mystical side.

For them, it involves 24 Englishmen. 22 dressed all in white and another two who can wear what they like so long as they have a white coat on top. 15 of the men walk out to the centre of a field. The two with coats are always part of this 15.

Another two of the 15 are allowed to take a bat each and another one takes a very hard red ball.

Then suddenly 14 of the 15 men all stand perfectly still. The only man to move is the one with the ball, he starts off towards one end of the field and then runs like a madman towards the centre of the field where the grass is shortest. Still at full steam he hurls the ball as hard as he can. And it rains!

Then when it rains you come in until you go in again!
