Migraine

Post by mightymouse »

Listening to the news this morning about the poor boxer who lost his life.

According to Frank Warren who was being interviewed, the chaps girlfriend had said that he had been suffering from Migraine leading up to the fight. Warren said that if that had been known to officials he would not have been allowed to fight.

I wondered if such protocols exist in rugby. If you report being ill with a bad headache during the week but are better by Saturday, would the team doctor say you cannot play? Or indeed if you are an amateur should you be ruling yourself out? I suspect people generally think ....I was unwell on Monday/Tuesday but now I feel grand ....and think nothing of playing on Saturday, without realising it might be dangerous?

Any thoughts, or medical knowledge/expertise on the subject?
