FA get it right!

Post by Bill W (2) »

The Football Association is advised by its membership committee to reject Hull City's plan to change their name to Tigers.

It is good news because the FA has taken a stand (for once!) against a multi squillionaire with no respect for tradition or the wishes of the clubs supporters who wanted the change for his own commercial interests.

Wonder what Castleford RL have to say about it?

Mind you not quite as silly as when Victoria Beckham tried to get Peterborough United (who via inheritance from their predecessors Fletton United, had used the nickname since 1921) banned from calling themselves 'Posh'.

I believe she actually won, but they were allowed to carry on using the name as it had no commercial value!

Thank goodness for scrupulous lawyers and prima donnas

This one I found baffling as they were called Hull City - The Tigers. There were people standing about with banners saying "The Tigers" shouting that they did not want the name changed to "The Tigers"

The Tigers is just a nickname like Leicester City are The Foxes, they didn't want it to be part of their formal name and become Hull Tigers FC
