How can people be so thick and still remember to breathe?
Whatever you do, don't argue. We might never hear from you again.

Isn't there a place in Gloucestershire where lorries get stuck every other day despite being clearly signed as unsuitable for HGVs, it never used to happen until satnavs became prevalent. But the signage hasn't changed!

Two points here:
1. SatNav - I've got one and I use it but not without consulting my map book first! The are excellent for telling you where you are and for finding the last few roads near a destination but absolutely useless for route planning.
2. The important bit here is the fact it's an App: don't know about other users but I seldom use apps for things available on websites as they (including and especially the flaky Tigers App) are almost always slower and less 'featureful' than basic web site.

Well this lot didn't blame an app or a sat nav...

I've been through that tunnel by car, it's scarey even then!

Love it, Rizzo. It's just another example of cyclists thinking some road rules don't apply to them.

Oh yes they can be. They all become members of the ERFU operating commitee.

Having spent more than 40 years in two industries where a knowledge of geography
was essential, I am disgusted by my fellow countrymen's lack of knowledge on this subject, no wonder they have to consult an app, my amazement is to discover that they have got brains enough to download it. If the app was left as a prize
in a treasure hunt several hundred thousand would still remain undiscovered.

It is, unfortunately, not a new problem merely a new slant on an existing problem. I had a colleague at work who was vociferous about how wonderful satNav was, because at last she drive to places she didn't know. When questioned it turned out that:
1. She didn't have any road map/road atlas.
2. Had never owned any such thing.
3. Had no idea about (even conceptually) how to read a map.
In the general discussion that then followed it turned out she wasn't alone, and that about 1 in 3 of the staff in the office did not own any form of road atlas.
And annoyingly I could't even do the 'holier than thou' bit as there was no correlation between incompetence and age on this one so the "In my day" remark wasn't available!!

It's something to do with travelling, surely? When some begin a journey all brain cells get left behind e.g. Heard at Paddington (the GWR terminus)station as a serious question to a platform staff guy, "Which way will the train go?"
I was tempted to say, "Across the concourse where the driver will attempt to turn left up Praed Street" to see what reaction there was.
