Star Vashnu Dhaba on Narborough Road (between Pie bar and Nine bar) is brilliant. It is a vegetarian indian that doesn't sell alcohol and only fits 30 people but the food is delicious and you can easily get more than you can eat for two people at under £15. They have also broadened the menu to include pizzas and mexican and the mark of a good indian is that most of their clientele are asian. Give it a try!

Kayal on Granby street does really good Kerala-style (southern Indian) food. Great if you want to try something different, plus really good and the fact that a starter (masala dosa) is the size of a main it can be fairly inexpensive (I say this as a student btw)
