National Press reporting that if DNA evidence proves it to be him he will be reburied in Leicester Cathedral.

Good decision.

IMHO

burial in Leicester confirmed

seems the Yorkists are upset but, hey, he's been here for over 600 years so he's a Leicester lad now.

For those who don't know - the DNA results will be announced at 10.00am GMT tomorrow, there will be live updates from the University of Leicester twitter feed.

and Channel 4 will screen a documentary about the dig and the results on Monday evening at 9pm - the crew are apparently setting up at the Guildhall now and not even they know the outcome yet!

and for those outside Leicester, or those who dohn't have the Mercury - is this slightly spooky?

Fascinating press conference, so many "lucky" strands coming together. Well done to the whole investigative team.

Looking forward to the TV programme tonight, and the eventual re-burial in Leicester Cathedral of the remains of Richard Plantagenet, King of England.

Hate to be a sceptic but the slight qualifications hinted at in the articles plus the limited DNA evidence tells us this is one of the family, but not necessarily him and that the person met a violent death.

Loved the Elizabeth Windsor tweet this morning that Richard wasn't the only one off his horse during the documentary! I guess it's nice to have your bones dug up by a big fan though, albeit one slightly of her rocker. Great programme.

Disagree. One or two pieces of evidence alone could have indicated it *might* be him.

Taken all together, the two lines of DNA from the two individuals descended from Anne of York, the position of the body in Greyfriars church - in the choir area which was documented as being a potential burial site, the battle wounds, the age range of the carbon dating, and the physicality of the skeleton (curvature of the spine, slight build etc) and the amazing reconstruction of the face from the skull remains - I have no doubt at all.

(Philippa Langley is certainly not as obsessively bonkers as the C4 programme made out, she is a very educated woman with a passion for a historical subject. As usual TV media manipulate people and their emotions for public mirth).

The program left me bemused,I was really looking forward to it and now we are left with nagging doubts. That art critic and some of the society members were really off the plot. The science proved their pre-determined agenda was wrong and apart from a dodgy invented arm,Shakespeare wasn't that far off the mark after all.

My best friend has scoliosis, and I can assure you it isn't a "hunchback" or a "crookback" :smt002 Shakespeare wrote a play loosely based on a historical character, much as he did with Julius Caesar, MacBeth and so on - I very much doubt Richard III "laid in his mother's womb two years" or that he was born with a full set of teeth and hair down to shoulders - as Shakespeare claims.

I am very much looking forward to a chance to go round the new exhibition opening in the Guildhall at the end of the week, lots of evidence and scientific stuff as well as historical.

I had a feeling that was probably the case. She was clearly very moved by the whole thing. I think it is good to have someone with some respect for the individual when a body is dug up. I think it just got a bit overplayed so viewers were rolling their eyes by the end. Shame. Such an amazing story, I'd had the programme date on my calendar for weeks, I was so excited.

I was referring to his appearance Rizzo, more than the whole tale.

I expect those who are cynical will remain so, and those who are happy to accept the team's declaration of "beyond reasonable doubt" will also do so.

I do wish that the media would learn the difference betweeen "interment" and "internment" - the King's remains are not being imprisoned or held in captivity!

On a more positive note, this museum idea sounds a good one.
