Re: Floods?
not much rain here recently though it did pee it down for several days this month and much of the ground is still sodden. But we still have a hosepipe ban.
Re: Floods?
If you want to know about water management, look no further than East Yorkshire.
Rowan Atkinson himself couldn't have come up with anything better.
Trenches dug as far back as King Canute's time, lovingly maintained by generations right up to Victorian times when they introduced electric pumps, are to be abandoned.
Masses of farmland will become flooded and ten times as much will be unworkable because of the rise in the water table.
But the hosepipe ban will live on.

Re: Floods?
Apparently Thursday saw many parts of Oadby flooded - and in any event I was in San Francisco where it was windy but about 72 degrees and clear. The only rain we saw in 4 weeks was a torrential storm in Houston on the 8th June.

Welcome back Rizzo!
Not sure Houston can blame floods on EU but Oadby can!

Thank you Bill. From their TV coverage I think everything in the US is pretty much blamed on President Obama.

Is this not why Parisians go to Britany in July and August?Ze Stade Fan wrote:A sunny Sunday and Monday after weeks of nearly constant rain here in Paris. Southern France under the sun as always. My beloved Britanny is wete as a used kleenex.

Whatever you do, don't argue. We might never hear from you again.
Re: Floods?
11 inches is a lot of rain. We can't even imagine that kind of downpour.

Re: Floods?
There was an interesting bit on the Simon Mayo show tonight about definition of a monsoon.
Oh, and is it odd that when half listening to the news about floods etc my attention was drawn back to the Tv when they mentioned "Kinoulton"?
