I've heard it all now ...
From the Beeb
They are actually suggesting women boxers wear skirts so it 'would allow spectators to distinguish them from men.'

Whatever you do, don't argue. We might never hear from you again.
Re: I've heard it all now ...
Making female boxers as appealing as certain tennis players and some Brazillian beach volleyball players might make good box office and might earn the professionals more money from gate receipts and TV.
But to pretend it's for reasons of identification is stupid.
It's like saying black boxers should wear some heavy bling so we know they're black.

Isn't this thread the same as this one, i.e. the one you replied to yesterday?

I still struggle to accept that boxing of either sex is even legal, let alone worry about what the partakers wear. But forcing the women to wear skirts certainly shows the organisers up for the pimps that they are. Foul sport. Foul management. Ashamed to be human sometimes.

Women tennis players wear pretty skirts and dresses that don't show and more flesh than is displayed by their male counterparts, they just look nicer on the eye.

Interesting anatomical concept - hearing with your eyes!BJ. wrote:Until they start grunting!Kinoulton wrote:... they just look nicer on the eye.
For when the One Great Scorer comes to write against your name,
He marks - not that you won or lost - but how you played the Game."

Re: I've heard it all now ...
Grunting should be banned.
Nat Lofthouse didn't need to grunt when he slammed his forhead against a heavy, wet, mud encased ball and sent it rocketing goalwards. Johnny Wilkinson doesn't grunt when he punts a ball 50 metres or so, yet these tennis players feel they need to grunt when knocking a little furry ball over a low net that's a few feet away.
If I wanted to hear Martina Hingis grunt, it would be in an entirely different setting.

Amazingly, the most important thing to a woman tennis player is to win games of tennis. Not to be attractive to old sexist men. I have a feeling Martina would just sigh a lot and roll her eyes in your imaginary scenario, Kin

The tennis players' alluring figures and attire do help though. I don't think anyone's made millions of quid out of a poster showing a lady curler scratching her butt!cornish tigress wrote:Amazingly, the most important thing to a woman tennis player is to win games of tennis. You'd think there would be a couple of other assets the ladies might have to distinguish them from the men.

Well exactly. It's important to recognise the female boxers for when the gym needs cleaning and the kit needs ironing.
